Georg Kofler
After graduating from school with a high school diploma, Kofler studied journalism and communication sciences in Vienna in 1976. In 1983 he received his doctorate. Dr. made his professional debut. phil. Georg Kofler in 1985 as personal advisor to the then ORF director, Gerd Bacher. From 1988 onwards, he worked first as managing director and later as chairman of the board of ProSieben Media AG, whose IPO he led in 1997.
Meanwhile, he managed to establish the station Pro7 as one of the most profitable TV companies in Germany in the 1990s. In 2000 he became CEO of HOT Networks AG, which operates the interactive television station Neun Live. He held this position until 2002. From February 2002, Georg Kofler was the CEO of the pay-TV channel Premiere. In this position, he played a key role in converting the company into a stock corporation in October 2004. Kofler was then appointed Executive Officer of Premiere AG with a shareholding of 13.9%.
On March 9, 2005, Premiere AG went public. Georg Kofler is a recipient of the Bavarian Order of Merit. On August 13, 2007 it was announced that Kofler would be leaving the company on August 31, 2007. On May 26, 2008, he announced the start of the company he founded, Kofler Energies AG. Meanwhile, Kofler took over the Frankfurt company Nycontec and poached Konrad Jerusalem, head of the acquisitions and mergers department, from the energy company RWE. In May 2009, the young company acquired Rhein-Ruhr Energie AG, which today operates as Kofler Energies Power.
In 2014, Glow Media AG was founded together with Judith Williams. The investments made by Williams as part of the VOX program "The Lions' Den" are managed here.
In 2010, Kofler married the entrepreneur Christiane zu Salm. In 2004 they became parents to a daughter. Kofler is the father of two sons from his first marriage.
