“Acapulco” Lands Season 4 Renewal

Pack your bags to return to Las Colinas. Apple TV+ has ordered its hit bilingual comedy series “Acapulco” for a fourth season. The Spanish and English-language series, inspired by 2017’s “How to Be a Latin Lover,” follows Máximo Gallardo, whose dream comes true when he gets the job of a lifetime at Acapulco’s hottest resort but soon realizes that working there will be more complicated than he could’ve ever imagined.

In Season 3, present-day Máximo (played by Eugenio Derbez) returned to an unrecognizable Las Colinas, while younger Máximo (Enrique Arrizon) continued “climbing up the ladder of success while potentially jeopardizing all the relationships he’s worked so hard to build.”

The cast also stars Fernando Carsa, Alcázar, Perez, Bauche, Reynoso, Raphael Alejandro, Jessica Collins, Chord Overstreet, Rafael Cebrián, Regina Orozco, Carlos Corona, Jaime Camil, Cristo Fernández, and others.

Apple TV+ wants more of Acapulco. The streaming service has renewed the bilingual comedy series for a fourth season. The third season debuted in May and finished airing in June.

Today, Apple TV+ announced that its global hit comedy series Acapulco, from Lionsgate Television, has been renewed and is heading back to Las Colinas for season four.

The news of the renewal comes on the heels of Acapulco becoming this year’s Imagen Award most-nominated series, landing nine nominations in total, including Best Comedy; Best Actor Enrique Arrizon; Best Supporting Actors Damián Alcázar, Carlos Corona and Eugenio Derbez; Best Supporting Actresses Vanessa Bauche, Camila Perez and Regina Reynoso; as well as Best Music Supervision for Film or Television.

“Acapulco” will be returning for a fourth season at Apple TV+.

The comedy series, which hails from Lionsgate Television, has been renewed for Season 4, the streamer announced Tuesday. The series stars Eugenio Derbez, who also executive produces the show, as Maximo, who recalls his rise to success via a younger version of himself (Enrique Arrizón), who climbs the ranks at Las Colinas Resort.

The news comes just over a month after “Acapulco” debuted its Season 3 finale, which series cocreator Austin Winsberg told TheWrap was crafted carefully in case the show didn’t receive another season order.

“We were also careful to have a thin needle to thread in case we don’t get to Season 4,” Winsberg told TheWrap. “We wanted it to be close-ended enough that it feels like there’s some satisfaction to the story and some answers, while also leaving a lot of doors open for more stories to come.

First coming onto the scene in Japan with his ultra-violent zombie samurai action flick Versus, Kitamura directed his first English-language feature with the Bradley Cooper-led The Midnight Meat Train, an adaptation of the Clive Barker novel for Lakeshore Entertainment and Lionsgate.

Previously, Kitamura has helmed manga adaptations including the sci-fi actioner Alive; an epic samurai action pic based on Yu Koyama’s Aragami; Lupin the Third for Toho and Kadokawa; and The Three Sisters of Tenmasouinn. Directed by Thomas Gilou and co-starring Gérard Depardieu, Adams also co-wrote and produced the comedy, which was among the top grossing French-language films of 2022 with over 2 million tickets sold. Acapulco is not going anywhere just yet. Apple TV+ has renewed the Spanish and English-language comedy series for a third season. The 10 new episodes will go into production this spring with a premiere date yet to be announced.

The news comes a month after the show’s Season 2 finale, which premiered on the streamer December 16. The show premiered in October 2021, with both seasons consisting of 10 episodes. Season 3 will again consist of 10 episodes, and is scheduled to begin production later this spring.

Exclusive: French-Italian actress Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu has signed with David Unger’s Artist International Group for management.

Leroy-Beaulieu currently stars alongside Lily Collins in Darren Star’s hit Netflix series Emily in Paris, which returns for its third season on December 21. The actress there plays Sylvie, the fierce French boss of Emily (Collins) at the Parisian marketing firm, Savoir. She is otherwise best known for appearing in three seasons of the acclaimed comedy-drama Call My Agent! from Netflix and France 2.

Leroy-Beaulieu launched her career on the stage before making her screen debut in Roger Vadim’s Surprise Party. She then went on to star in the Academy Award-nominated Three Men and a Cradle, for which she received a César Award nomination for Most Promising Actress. Kelley, known recently for “Big Little Lies” and “The Undoing,” serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer of the series, premiering November 10 on the NBCU streamer. Levinson directs multiple episodes including the pilot, as well as executive produces. Hans Zimmer and Steve Mazzaro are co-composers for the gritty police procedural with a twist.

In her first major gig since TBS canceled “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee,” comedian Samantha Bee will host the New York Public Radio’s annual gala later this fall. The event, which takes place Wednesday, November 9 at The Plaza Hotel, will honor Wnyc’s “On the Media” host and managing editor Brooke Gladstone. The evening will also include a musical performance from Kronos Quartet.

Nypr’s annual gala is its largest fundraising event of the year, celebrating the vital work produced across New York Public Radio.

Constance Zimmer, Chris Sullivan, Ben Shenkman Rafael Cebrián and Danielle Davenport will all appear in the series. They join previously announced series lead Jeff Wilbusch and cast members Juliana Canfield, Karen Robinson, and Michael Mosley.
