The horror TV series Z Nation was produced by The Asylum (a company best known for the Sharknado franchise and mockbusters) and aired on Syfy for five seasons, running for a total of 68 episodes from September 12, 2014 to December 28, 2018. After that show wrapped up, a prequel series called Black Summer ran for two seasons (released in 2019 and 2021) on the Netflix streaming service. Fargo, North Dakota, is the stage for two New York blacklisted theatre artists, Tucker (Stephen Friedrich) and Sandrene (Tara Holt), to pursue their dream of an "artistic revolution.” Director Noam Tomaschoff and co-writer Chelsea Frei’s feature debut is adapted from their earlier improv short, and stars Christopher Lloyd, who banishes the pair from the New York scene, and Richard Kind as Mortensen, who lives with the burden of broken dreams.

Exclusive: Vertical Entertainment has acquired the North American rights to the ensemble comedy Tankhouse, starring Christopher Lloyd (The Tender Bar, Nobody), Richard Kind, Tara Holt and Stephen Friedrich (This is Us & Nice Girl Like You), with plans to release it in theaters and on VOD on May 13th.

Tara Holt, Stephen Friedrich, Nadia Alexander, Joe Adler, Austin Crute, Luke Spencer Roberts, Devere Rogers, and Sarah Yarkin also star. It follows two pretentious New York theatre actors who, when blackballed from the local theatre scene, decide their only recourse is to travel to Fargo, North Dakota, and start a theatrical revolution. Happy beginning of June, everyone! Now that summer is just about in full swing, we have a look at the horror and sci-fi VOD releases coming our way this month, in case you prefer to beat the heat from the comfort of your own couch while catching up on movies.

June’s VOD titles are an eclectic bunch, with a little bit of something for every kind of fan out there. This is a war zone," a male voice tells the recruits (and us) at the start of the movie trailer, set in Guantanamo’s temporary detention center Camp X-Ray. A "war zone" in more ways than one; he’s referring not only to the physical danger faced by the U.S. military guards (and their Muslim prisoners — or rather, "detainees"), but also, and more ominously, to a war of minds and mindsets between the two groups, who may have more in common with each other than is apparent on the surface. Peter Sattler’s drama, Camp X-Ray, debuted out in Sundance at the start of the year, and attracted considerable attention with Kristen Stewart in the leading role.

The film has been described as going beyond the politics of the controversial detention centre and digging into the humanity of its characters, and now IFC has launched the first trailer teasing exactly that.

A young woman joins the military to be part of something bigger than herself and her small-town roots. Instead, she ends up as a new guard at Guantanamo Bay, where her mission is far from black and white. Surrounded by hostile jihadists and aggressive squadmates, she strikes up an unusual friendship with one of the detainees. As two people on opposite sides of a war, they struggle to find their way through the ethical quagmire of Guantanamo Bay. In the process, they form an unlikely bond that changes them both.

In the action genre, there are few stars whose mere presence packs as powerful a punch as Bruce Willis. And while of course none of us here at We Got This Covered could ever claim to have grown tired of seeing the icon kick ass, this summer’s The Prince is definitely more interesting than most action fare the actor has been involved with lately – because it casts him not as the put-upon hero, but as a cold-hearted, dastardly assassin.

Hey it’s almost time for the final season of Californication so let’s talk about what it’s going to be like to be for someone brand new to the series and what it means for her future career. While this is still ultimately about the life of Hank (David Duchovny), I can’t deny that there will be at least one person piggy backing on the success of the series and the increased viewership it will likely have from the big push that this is Californication’s last season on Showtime. VH1 caught up with the cast of Camp X-Ray at the Sundance Film Festival last week, which stars Kristen Stewart as a Guantanamo Bay guard who befriends an inmate, played by Payman Maadi. The film is garnering solid reviews — as is Kristen’s performance — and her co-stars gushed about everything from her commitment to developing her character to her stellar sports skills.

“She was amazing from day one,” said Tara Holt. “She definitely does her research. She’s so serious about her work.”

Tara said Kristen’s commitment was next level. “I went over to her house, and she had these pictures hanging on her ceiling of gross prison cells and disgusting prison life taped above her bed,” she told us. “And I was like, ‘You are hard-core.”

Maadi called Kristen “a great partner” onscreen, while Lane Garrison praised her prowess on the b-ball court. “She’s got a great jump-shot!

In the drama, set for a 2014 release, a soldier assigned to Guantanamo Bay befriends a man who has been imprisoned there for eight years.

Joining the 23-year-old actress in the movie are Lane Garrison, Joseph Julian Soria, Peyman Moaadi, and Tara Holt.

Kristen Stewart was photographed wearing army uniform on the set of upcoming indie drama Camp X-Ray in Los Angeles yesterday (July 17).

The 23-year-old actress, who was recently romantically linked to Boardwalk Empire's Michael Pitt, wore Us military gear and her hair scraped back into a bun to as she filmed scenes on a boat.

The star plays a young soldier stationed at Guantanamo Bay who receives abuse from the men in her charge before striking up an unlikely friendship with a prisoner.

Stewart later removed her costume and put on a swimsuit, vest, a pair of shorts, and socks and sandals to enjoy a beer on board with co-stars including Tara Holt, who donned a green bikini and denim shorts.

The movie, which will be writer and director Peter Settler's first feature film, also stars Peyman Moaadi and Lane Garrison.
