The horror TV series Z Nation was produced by The Asylum (a company best known for the Sharknado franchise and mockbusters) and aired on Syfy for five seasons, running for a total of 68 episodes from September 12, 2014 to December 28, 2018. After that show wrapped up, a prequel series called Black Summer ran for two seasons (released in 2019 and 2021) on the Netflix streaming service. If you’ve been wondering when Black Summer is going to return for a third season… well, it looks like it’s not going to, because the folks at What’s on Netflix have confirmed that Netflix quietly “ghost cancelled” the show. But a new post on The Asylum’s X account indicates that Z Nation might be getting a revival! The post promises that a big announcement is coming soon…

Stephen Friedrich, Sarah Yarkin and Tara Holt in Tankhouse
Fargo, North Dakota, is the stage for two New York blacklisted theatre artists, Tucker (Stephen Friedrich) and Sandrene (Tara Holt), to pursue their dream of an "artistic revolution.” Director Noam Tomaschoff and co-writer Chelsea Frei’s feature debut is adapted from their earlier improv short, and stars Christopher Lloyd, who banishes the pair from the New York scene, and Richard Kind as Mortensen, who lives with the burden of broken dreams.

In conversation with Eye For Film, Tomaschoff and Frei discussed the irony behind Tankhouse, compromising their artistic expression, and the burden of the creative dream.

"This is an 'active art' zone." Vertical Entertainment has revealed a fun official trailer for an indie comedy called Tankhouse, marking the feature directorial debut of actor Noam Tomaschoff. This film has skipped premiering at festivals and will be out in May for anyone to watch. When an ambitious but hopelessly pretentious thespian couple gets blackballed from the New York theatre scene, they relocate to Fargo, North Dakota and form a new ensemble to start a theatrical revolution in an unexpected place. They challenge an incumbent theater group to win a local competition. Starring Tara Holt & Stephen Friedrich as Tucker & Sandrene, plus Joe Adler, Nadia Alexander, Austin Crute, and Sarah Yarkin, with Richard Kind and Christopher Lloyd. It looks like something made by theater nerds just for theater nerds to laugh at. Here's the first official trailer for Noam Tomaschoff's Tankhouse, direct from Vertical's YouTube: After being blacklisted from the NYC theatre industry,...

Some childhood homes hold good memories. This isn't one of them. For Madison, visiting the house where she grew up—and was nearly killed—is not a pleasant experience, and although she escaped death within its walls once before, the past isn't done with her yet, as evidenced by the spooky new trailer for Darkness Rising, a new IFC Midnight horror film with a cast that includes Ted Raimi.

Okay, Taylor Lautner, it’s your move. The primary “Twilight” duo of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson have used their Ya-vampire cache as a stepping stone to work with extremely interesting filmmakers: Walter Salles, Olivier Assayas, David Cronenberg, David Michod and many, many more. Lautner has fallen behind in that regard, but it’s possible he might have been legitimately interested in “Abduction” and “Grown Ups 2” (and/or, he just hasn’t found the right roles yet). That’s neither here nor there, but it does remind us that Kristen Stewart has another intriguing looking project coming up. Titled “Camp X-Ray,” the movie is an indie that premiered at Sundance earlier this year, and features the actress as in an unlikely, but challenging role of a Guantanamo Bay detention camp guard. Written and directed by first-time feature helmer Peter Sattler, the movie co-stars Tara Holt, John Carroll Lynch, Lane Garrison,...

‘Camp X-Ray’ trailer 2014: Kristen Stewart and Payman Maadi in Guantanamo’s ‘war zone’ (photo: Kristen Stewart in ‘Camp X-Ray’) The official Camp X-Ray trailer is out. "Make no mistake about it. This is a war zone," a male voice tells the recruits (and us) at the start of the movie trailer, set in Guantanamo’s temporary detention center Camp X-Ray. A "war zone" in more ways than one; he’s referring not only to the physical danger faced by the U.S. military guards (and their Muslim prisoners — or rather, "detainees"), but also, and more ominously, to a war of minds and mindsets between the two groups, who may have more in common with each other than is apparent on the surface. Private Amy Cole aka Kristen Stewart is forewarned: "You can talk to ‘em, but do not let these guys learn anything about you. Do not let them get inside your head.

“Make no mistake about it: This is a war zone.” Bella, I don’t think we’re in Forks anymore. Peter Sattler makes his directorial debut with the film he wrote that premiered at Sundance. Lane Garrison, John Carroll Lynch and Tara Holt co-star. Peter Sattler’s drama, Camp X-Ray, debuted out in Sundance at the start of the year, and attracted considerable attention with Kristen Stewart in the leading role.
The film has been described as going beyond the politics of the controversial detention centre and digging into the humanity of its characters, and now IFC has launched the first trailer teasing exactly that.
A young woman joins the military to be part of something bigger than herself and her small-town roots. Instead, she ends up as a new guard at Guantanamo Bay, where her mission is far from black and white. Surrounded by hostile jihadists and aggressive squadmates, she strikes up an unusual friendship with one of the detainees. As two people on opposite sides of a war, they struggle to find their way through the ethical quagmire of Guantanamo Bay. In the process, they form an unlikely bond that changes them both.

In the action genre, there are few stars whose mere presence packs as powerful a punch as Bruce Willis. And while of course none of us here at We Got This Covered could ever claim to have grown tired of seeing the icon kick ass, this summer’s The Prince is definitely more interesting than most action fare the actor has been involved with lately – because it casts him not as the put-upon hero, but as a cold-hearted, dastardly assassin.
Today, We Got This Covered is thrilled to exclusively five new images from the actioner, highlighting Willis along with stars Jason Patric and John Cusack. You can check them out below.
In The Prince, Patric plays a retired assassin who gets drawn back into his old life when his teenage daughter (Gia Mantegna) is kidnapped. After recruiting an old ally (Cusack) and heading into enemy territory, he realizes that confronting...

Hey it’s almost time for the final season of Californication so let’s talk about what it’s going to be like to be for someone brand new to the series and what it means for her future career. While this is still ultimately about the life of Hank (David Duchovny), I can’t deny that there will be at least one person piggy backing on the success of the series and the increased viewership it will likely have from the big push that this is Californication’s last season on Showtime. For Tara Holt, her career will get a boost, or at least that’s what she’s no doubt hoping and what I honestly want for her.
When you’re just starting out as an actor, your choice of role is pretty limited. For Holt, she’s mostly been taking on small parts like Bar Girl, College Girl,...

Tara Holt has joined the final season of Showtime’s Californication in a recurring role. In it, Hank (David Duchovny) is joining the writers room as his never-released film Santa Monica Cop now becomes a TV series. He’s riled frequently by his boss, the show’s old-school executive producer Rick Rath (recurring Michael Imperioli). Holt, repped by Nancy Chaidez & Associates and Untitled, will play Melanie, Rath’s gorgeous assistant whose presence causes a commotion in the writers room. Damon Herriman (Justified) has been cast as a recurring in CBS’ drama series Battle Creek, from Vince Gilligan, David Shore, Sony TV and CBS Studios. It centers on Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI agent Milton Bradley, who have very different worldviews but are teamed up to clean up the semi-mean streets of Battle Creek, Mi. Herriman, repped by Apa, Art/Work Entertainment and Australia’s Lisa Mann, plays Battle Creek Detective Niblet,...

VH1 caught up with the cast of Camp X-Ray at the Sundance Film Festival last week, which stars Kristen Stewart as a Guantanamo Bay guard who befriends an inmate, played by Payman Maadi. The film is garnering solid reviews — as is Kristen’s performance — and her co-stars gushed about everything from her commitment to developing her character to her stellar sports skills.
“She was amazing from day one,” said Tara Holt. “She definitely does her research. She’s so serious about her work.”
Tara said Kristen’s commitment was next level. “I went over to her house, and she had these pictures hanging on her ceiling of gross prison cells and disgusting prison life taped above her bed,” she told us. “And I was like, ‘You are hard-core.”
Maadi called Kristen “a great partner” onscreen, while Lane Garrison praised her prowess on the b-ball court. “She’s got a great jump-shot!

Kids. Such as Sex, Lies, and Videotape or Reservoir Dogs before it, and such as Winter’s Bone, Blue Valentine and Fruitvale Station after it, Larry Clark & Harmony Korine’s seminal film is forever connected in “spirit” to the lieu where it received its secret midnight premiere screening in 1995. The Sundance Film Festival might be known as the birthplace of U.S indie filmmaking innovation, avant-gardism, a larger definition of the low budgeted film response to Hollywood in not only narrative but in the non-fiction form, but it is a festival made strong by its renewal and familiarity. That close acquaintanceness exists in Kids‘ starlets Rosario Dawson and Chloë Sevigny filmography/career path trajectory and connection to Park City (both have several indie films slated for ’14 – of which I’ve included in our predictions list) and it is that “familiarity” that is visibly noticeable in how I map out my annual predictions list.
