Namrata is a director and editor with over a decade's experience working in the Indian film industry. She started her career as a graphic designer, worked with NDTV, and subsequently went on to study filmmaking at the prestigious Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute, Kolkata. Namrata began her career in the entertainment industry by working on various critically acclaimed documentaries and eventually went on to edit several cult Indian feature films across genres. She won awards for her work on feature films like Love Sex Aur Dhokha, a provocative drama examining the voyeuristic nature of modern society, currently streaming on Netflix, and Band Baaja Baaraat a popular rom-com based on wedding planning which released internationally. Namrata won the National Film Award in 2012 for Best Editing for the critically acclaimed mystery thriller Kahaani, directed by Sujoy Ghosh. She also edited Made In Heaven, one of Amazon Prime Video's most successful Indian originals, and a Netflix anthology titled Ghost Stories which was released in 2020. Her most recent release is the Netflix docu-series titled House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths, which explores the truths and theories around the deaths of 11 members of a Delhi family.
She is presently working on her debut documentary feature as a director with the Tiger Baby Films, Excel Entertainment, and Salman Khan Films' co-production - Angry Young Men - which seeks to explore the lives of the legendary Indian writing duo Salim-Javed. Namrata is also co-developing a Hindi feature film with a leading Indian production company.
