Devotion is a film directed by J.D. Dillard starring Jonathan Majors and Glen Powell.
This is a movie that delivers what it promises, no more and no less, and does just enough (or even a little less) in the story department and ferociously and devotedly hangs onto the technical department of recreation and, above all, the action scenes.
Premise
During the Fifties, in the Cold War times, two very different pilots will be forced to fight the enemy and test their friendship in combat.
About the Movie Devotion (2022)
Devotion is one of those movies about heroes in a war with all against each other, all the clichés we can find in this genre applied to a historic recreation that is technically brilliant, but loses power because of its simple screenplay with barely any depth to it and which bases its strength on the excellent scenes of fighter pilot aircraft in combat.

“Devotion” adapts the remarkable true story of Jesse Brown and Tom Hudner, Navy pilots following WWII and before The Korean War who had each other’s backs no matter what. Ensign Jesse Brown (Jonathan Majors) was the first African American carrier pilot to serve in the navy. He found his calling from a super young age, realizing it fully when he saw a poster advertising flying for the Navy at Ohio State University. Lieutenant Tom Hudner passed up Harvard to go to the Naval Academy, and he became Jesse’s wingman.
Based on the book by Adam Makos, “Devotion” follows Jesse and Tom’s journey alongside Fighting 32, their assigned Flight Squadron, as tension built following World War II to bleed into The Korean War. Alongside the starring pair, Christina Jackson, Joe Jonas and more appear.

The Los Angeles premiere of “Devotion,” starring Jonathan Majors and Glen Powell, served as both a salute to the legacy and lineage of Korean War heroes Jesse L. Brown, the first African American Navy aviator, and Thomas Hudner, his devoted wingman, as well as a celebration of the familial bonds forged during the shoot.
“This movie, in so many ways, is a family effort,” director Jd Dillard said, introducing the film’s cast and crew before a packed house inside the Regency Village Theatre in Westwood on Tuesday night. “We all moved together like the boys shipping off to war to make this movie.”
Dillard then asked the few dozen descendants of Brown and Hudner in attendance to stand for a round of applause. It’s overwhelming to share these moments with the families, Dillard told Variety on the red carpet, but, he added, “There’s no other way to do it.

"We knew this day might come." "Doesn't make it any easier." Sony Pictures has revealed the final official trailer for Devotion, opening in theaters nationwide later in November. This looks like a must watch on the big screen!! The film is about a pair of U.S. Navy fighter pilots who risk their lives during the Korean War and become some of the Navy's most celebrated wingmen. Devotion tells the true story (the big difference between this and Top Gun!) of Jesse L. Brown, as played by the exceptionally talented Jonathan Majors, a pioneering Black Naval aviator who flew missions during the Korean War (from 1950-1953), and built an unexpected bond with fellow Naval aviator Tom Hudner, played by Glen Powell - who is also in Top Gun Maverick. It also stars Spencer Neville, Christina Jackson, Thomas Sadoski, Joseph Cross, Daren Kagasoff, Serinda Swan, and Joe Jonas. I've been excited to...

The Secret Life of the American Teenager may have been a resouding success for ABC Family, but it also helped Shailene Woodley land some big roles in the aftermath.
The actress has looked back on her time on the series, and has admitted that she felt "stuck" as a cast member.
Created by 7th Heaven's Brenda Hamilton, the series centered on Woodley's Amy Juergens, a teenager who had to come to terms with an unexpected pregnancy.
The series delved deep into how the pregnancy changed not only Amy's life, but the lives of those around her.
In an interview with Bustle, Woodley has opened up about her time on the series, noting that she did not agree with the messages of the show.
“There were a lot of things that were written into the scripts that not just me, but a lot of the cast, disagreed with,” the Big Little Lies actress said.

It's been almost seven years since Shailene Woodley starred on The Secret Life of the American Teenager. The 28-year-old actress looked back at the series in an interview with Bustle published Saturday. In the show, Woodley played Amy Juergens, a 15-year-old student who becomes pregnant after she has sex with Ricky Underwood (Daren Kagasoff) at band camp. The program explored relationships, the stars' journeys through high school and Amy's experience as a new mom. "I can only speak [about my characters' sex lives] through my experience with sex," Woodley told the outlet. NBC has cut a trio of freshman series.
“Abby’s,” “The Enemy Within” and “The Village” have all been canceled after only a single season on the network.
The former is multicamera comedy which starred Natalie Morales in the title role, as a woman who ran a bar in her backyard. The series, which has only aired seven episodes to date, actually utilized the gimmick of being shot outdoors instead of on a soundstage, the first to do so. Morales was the first-ever female Cuban lead in the format.
The regulars at Abby’s bar, and therefore on the show, included Neil Flynn, Jessica Chaffin, Kimia Behpoornia and Leonard Ouzts. NBC has canceled freshman series “Abby’s,” “The Village,” and “The Enemy Within,” TheWrap has learned.
The trio of shows (two dramas and a comedy) all debuted at midseason and had been the only programs still sitting in limbo at the network, which made most renewal and cancellation decisions ahead of its upfront presentation to advertisers earlier this month — and canceled “A.P. Bio” last week.
Executive produced by Josh Malmuth and Mike Schur, the sitcom “Abby’s” centers on the titular unlicensed bar that Abby (Natalie Morales) runs in her backyard, which “is the perfect gathering place for locals to find camaraderie and sanctuary.”
“Abby’s” is averaging a 0.6 rating in the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic and 2.4 million total viewers, according to the “most current” data from Nielsen, which includes a week’s worth of delayed viewing where available.

NBC has made a decision on its new midseason series, comedy Abby’s and dramas The Village and The Enemy Within. All three have been canceled, joining sophomore midseason comedy, A.P. Bio, which was axed last Friday.
NBC left the future of Abby’s, A.P. Bio, The Enemy Within and The Village undecided heading into its upfront presentation earlier this month.
“The next season’s schedule is fluid, we want to give those shows a chance to fulfill their run and we’ll take another look at them then,” NBC Co-Chairmen George Cheeks said on NBC’s May 12 upfronts call. “Remember we program 52 weeks a year so there are a lot of slots.”
The decision is not surprising as neither series has been a critical or commercial breakout. All are from Universal TV; The Village and The Enemy Within just wrapped their runs; Abby’s has a couple of more episodes.

“Has [insert name of broadcast TV show currently in limbo here] been canceled or renewed?” That’s the question on many viewers’ minds now that upfronts season is over.
While Fox, ABC, NBC, CBS and The CW have all announced their 2019-20 programming schedules, some of those slates don’t reveal everything, meaning the statuses of just under half a dozen broadcast TV shows are still up in the air.
And look, we can accept the fact that not every series will be saved like “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” famously was last season — and not every show should be. But come on, networks — minus ABC, Fox and The CW, who have already axed or renewed everything on their lists — viewers need to hear one way or another whether their favorite programs will be returning this fall, especially for ones that have a crazy-devoted fanbase.
Below are the five shows we’re still awaiting decisions on.

And thus that’s exactly what “The Village” does in its first few minutes, not the first or last big obvious touch meant to make it clear that while the world might be a scary one, this is fundamentally a show about nice people who like each other.
NBC’s newest aim to tearjerk, created by Mike Daniels, focuses on the residents of a titular (and mythical) New York City apartment building. But unlike other NYC apartment buildings, the Village is special — all the residents go beyond friendship to help each other out because that’s just part of “the whole Village experience,” where the thin walls and tight bonds are only emphasized by the constant CGI zooming through each unit.

The Village isn't like your typical dramas. The new NBC series follows an apartment full of New York citizens, who, over time, have become family. "It's a heart-based show. It's not a sentimental show by any stretch, but it is one that has great sentiment," series star Lorraine Toussaint told E! News. Viewers will meet Nick (Warren Christie), a war veteran; Sarah (Michaela McManus), a nurse who works at a nursing home and is a single mother to a teenage girl; Patricia (Toussaint), the mama bear of the apartment building and a social worker, Enzo (Dominic Chianese) and his grandson and law student Gabe (Daren Kagasoff), Ava (Moran Aitas), an Iranian immigrant, and so many other residents of The...

Even by the standards of network television, NBC’s “The Village” wears its inspiration boldly and openly: It’s “This Is Us,” except set among the disparate residents of an apartment building rather than the members of a family. “The Village” leans, hard, into the “This Is Us” formula of trauma-as-drama, deriving its tone from its characters perpetually making their way through the worst days of their lives and building moments of emotional catharsis and connection practically before every ad break.
Which is fine, as far as it goes — the medium runs on repetition, with slight alteration, and “This Is Us,” a surprisingly durable hit, is as good a template to crib as any. But, though it has plenty of its own issues, “This Is Us” is a notably well-acted and tonally consistent series. “The Village,” by contrast, veers all over the map and does not boast actors capable of...

Lorraine Toussaint, the star of NBC’s upcoming drama, “The Village,” addressed the use of intimacy coaches on set during the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Tuesday, noting that she is “glad to hear” they are being utilized more now. In the past, Toussaint said that she’s had to be her “own advocate.”
“I’ve done some intimacy, revealing, late in my career where it was, um, where I felt particularly vulnerable,” the “Orange Is the New Black” star told reporters during NBC’s “Women of Drama” panel. “And I’m glad to hear there are intimacy coaches because I’ve been my own advocate. And I’ve been a bit of a Nazi about making sure that it’s a closed set. And that includes even sound.”
“If you don’t have to be on that set, go away. You can take that mic,” she added.

Women and crime? They mix well.
Christina Hendrix, Rhetta, and Mae Whitman star in Good Girls, the sometimes crazy, sometimes touching series about women who needed a little help, so they took to crime to get their families through the tough times.
They soon discovered it wouldn't be a quick and easy fix, and the show was off and running. Fans wouldn't have been pleased without more from the endearing and funny ladies, and NBC has granted them more time to find a way out of their sticky wicket with Good Girls Season 2.
While the drama found stiff competition against ABC's The Good Doctor, once the medical series signed off for the season, Good Girls was either in front of or tied with the competition for the rest of its premiere season.

Universal Pictures is going to play with the Ouija board once again. The studio has announced the release date for the sequel to the Olivia Cooke-starring horror film, Ouija, that came out last October. This time around, however, the studio is working from a screenplay scribed by the writing team behind Oculus.
Variety reveals that Ouija 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on October 21st, 2016. Nobody is signed on to direct at this point, but it's been revealed that Universal is working from a screenplay written by Mike Flanagan and Jeff Howard, who co-wrote the popular mirror-centric horror movie, Oculus, which Flanagan also directed.
As part of their first-look deal with Universal, Blumhouse Productions will back the sequel, with Jason Blum producing alongside Hasbro’s Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis and Platinum Dunes' Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form. It's also been announced that Ouija 2 will see worldwide distribution.

Red Band Society, Season 1, Episodes 11-13
Aired Saturday, 8pm (Et) on Fox
Red Band Society ends the season strongly with a set of episodes that are each bittersweet, hopeful, and triumphant. As a whole the show has been sporadic with its narrative as well as ham-fisted and manipulative with its drama, but throughout the season there have been great moments. The very strong young cast at the series’ core has been able to push the right buttons in order to, at times, get the audience to overlook these obvious issues. As episodic as the show has been, the series memory is fairly good, with mistakes made by the characters (or more accurately, the writers) in earlier episodes addressed and factored into the resolution of those characters arcs. The final three episodes reward the audience with an ending that gives closure to the series in a way that is satisfying and both honest and optimistic.
