Maxwell Riesberg is an accomplished producer, storyteller, and creative advertising professional, as well a seasoned entrepreneur with two successful exits. He is the Co-Founder of RSCL, a new breed of film distributor specializing in action cinema, built from day one as a lifestyle brand for its young male audience. The RSCL team includes former senior executives from Universal, Voltage Pictures, Annapurna, and Warner Bros.
Previously, Maxwell founded Paradise Creative, an advertising agency that specializes in theatrical trailers & digital campaigns for films and TV shows. Maxwell led the company from a two-person upstart into an industry powerhouse, cementing the agency's status as a go-to partner for clients including Amazon Studios, Warner Bros, Paramount, Sony Pictures, Hulu, HBO Max, Netflix, and many others. In addition to generating millions of box office dollars and delivering untold eyeballs to streaming titles, Maxwell & the Paradise team garnered many notable awards, including seven wins at the prestigious Clio Awards (Don Draper won one of these on Mad Men). Maxwell was Chief Executive Officer of the agency, until engineering his exit in 2021.
Before that, Maxwell founded Lord Danger, a boutique commercial production company. He developed an in-demand roster of bold commercial directors, sourcing their campaigns and managing their career trajectories. Maxwell worked hand-in-hand as producer on his clients' works, from conceptualization all the way through post-production. Lord Danger created music videos for some of biggest acts in music (Major Lazer, J. Cole, Steve Aoki, Big Sean, et al) as well as iconic commercials for house-name brands including 1-800-Contacts & Meow Mix. Maxwell was Co-Chief Executive Officer of the company, leading it to its acquisition in 2015.
Additionally, Maxwell brings deep expertise in building creative organizations and cinematic storytelling to companies via consultancy. He's been an active angel investor and has spearheaded other ventures, including Currant (fractional vineyard investment platform), Vybo (a Web3 secondary concert ticket market) and Grand Statement (a hybrid record label & 3D avatar studio).
Early in his career, Maxwell and his partner were selected by USA Today & agency Pereira O'Dell to be Team USA at the International Festival of Creativity in Cannes, representing their nation as its best Director duo (under 30 years old) in the Young Lions competition. While Maxwell did not taste victory in the Riviera, he served his country admirably and is still awaiting a 'thank you call' from then-President Obama. At the dawn of his Hollywood journey, Maxwell cut his teeth as an assistant at Endeavor. Prior to that, he studied Finance at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.
Maxwell's work has been written about extensively, including in The Hollywood Reporter, Ad Age, Fast Company, Deadline, Entertainment Weekly, Billboard, Indiewire, and CNN. And Eater LA.
Maxwell loves to travel, both abroad but also to the furthest reaches of Los Angeles in search its best food. When he's not on the road, he enjoys seeing (almost) every movie in theatres, appreciating dogs, rooting for the Chicago Bears, and working on his tennis game.
