Jim Parsons is teasing how filming the Young Sheldon series finale was for him reprising his role from The Big Bang Theory.

The actor is set to play the role of Sheldon Cooper in the final episode of the spinoff prequel series set for May 16 alongside Mayim Bialik.

The Big Bang Theory may be over, but the franchise continues with the prequel series Young Sheldon.

In an exciting development, Simon Helberg is set to return to the franchise with a voice role on an upcoming installment of Young Sheldon.

The episode, airing November 18, focuses on Sheldon's introduction to the world of engineering.

“We love being able to explore the origins of Sheldon Cooper every week on Young Sheldon,” said executive producer Steven Molaro in a statement.

“But it’s always extra fun when we’re able to incorporate Big Bang Theory Easter eggs into the storylines."

Simon Helberg reunites with his fellow Big Bang Theory alums in an upcoming episode of Young Sheldon.

Helberg is set to reprise his role as engineer Howard Wolowitz (in voiceover form) to tell the origin story of Sheldon Cooper’s complicated relationship with engineering on the Thursday, November 18 episode. As part of Sheldon’s introduction to engineering, we also meet his first engineering professor played by Lance Reddick. Reba McEntire also guest stars in the episode. We'll get to see young Sheldon Cooper continue to grow until 2024. CBS has renewed the Young Sheldon comedy series for three more years -- season five (2021-22), season six (2022-23), and season seven (2023-24).

“Young Sheldon” has been renewed for three more seasons at CBS.

That means the “Big Bang Theory” prequel series will be on the air until at least 2024. The series debuted in 2017, with its fourth season currently airing. Season 5 will debut during the 2021-2022 broadcast television season.

This is not the first time the show has picked up a multi-season renewal. Back in 2019, the show was renewed for two seasons.
