Edson grew up in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He knew early on he wanted to become a storyteller. After high school he went to Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam. He graduated with his short film 'Steez'.
After his graduation in 2008, he started freelancing and worked as an assistant-director, cameraman, editor and Motion Graphics designer for seven years on several projects.
In 2015 he started studying Directing Fiction at the Netherlands Film Academy. In his third year at the Netherlands Film Academy he made the short film 'Eindhalte' (international title: Final Stop). Between his third- and fourth-year Edson co-directed the film 'Safe Haven'. In his fourth year, Edson graduated with two shorts. One was the VFX-film 'Mania'. His other film 'Porfotto' won the Topkapi prize for best fiction film of his graduation year.
Edson has a big fascination for personal stories. He is always looking for the story behind a person, to empathize with them. Being raised in a troubled neighborhood, Edson believes every person; good or bad, has its own truth. It doesn't matter where he places his characters, there is always something real about them.
