After he finished his training at RWCMD Rhys won the Carleton Hobbs Award and joined the BBC Radio Rep appearing in hundreds of radio productions. A successful career as an actor followed, with roles in Sir Peter Hall's production of The Rivals in the West End and Sean Foley's production of The Dresser with Ken Stott, Reece Shearsmith and Harriet Thorpe.
Rhys is also an award-winning writer. With his writing partner Darren Clark, he won the inaugural Stiles & Drewe New Musical Award with the musical The Wicker Husband.
The Wicker Husband opened at the Watermill in 2020 on the fateful night that the UK went into the first lockdown sadly curtailing its run - for now. Meanwhile, Rhys and Darren went on to be commissioned by Adam Lenson Productions to write Turing, a new musical based on the life of Alan Turing and Rhys received the Peggy Ramsay Foundation bursary.
Rhys has continued to work as a voice-over actor and recently returned to the role of Jack Holden in popular fitness app Zombies Run! as well as recording several audiobooks for Audible.
