Daniel Fermín Pfeffer is an award winning Mexican American Filmmaker. He earned a BFA from NYU's Tisch School and an MFA for Screenwriting and Directing from Columbia University. His short Film, "While I Was Gone" screened at various festivals and won the Denver Film Festival Domestic Student Award.
His first feature, "I'll See You Around," premiered in 2019 at the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival, and Breaking Glass Pictures distributed it. His latest feature script, "Brujería," combines social justice with psychological horror. This screenplay was named an official selection for Columbia University's annual Blue List (2020) and is currently in development at Sonoro Media.
His first minisodic directorial effort, "Chosen," premiered at the Catalyst Story Institute/Content Festival and won several awards and at the Austin Film Festival. In May of 2020, Daniel served as a director and was commissioned for a music video titled, "Hold That Weight" that received a Vimeo Staff Pick. During the pandemic, Daniel wrote and directed a Latinx NYC short film titled, "Don't Come Close" and screened at the 2021 Rooftop Films/Central Park SummerStage, the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival, and HBO NY Latino Film Festival. Daniel went on to executive produce and assistant direct the independent pilot, "Chiqui" which had its world premiere at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival as an Indie Episodic.
Most recently, Daniel directed two music videos and three visualizers for the internationally recognized rock band, X Ambassadors. The videos will be released under their new label deal with Virgin Music Group in February 2024.
Daniel has taught at Columbia University, Ithaca College, Tisch NYU, and Northwestern. Most recently, Daniel finished a two-year term as a VAP at Cornell University where he taught screenwriting and film production for the Performing and Media Arts Department.
In the 2023-2024 term, Daniel joined Barnard College in New York City, Hunter CUNY and Gotham EDU as an instructor in film production and screenwriting.
