- Actress
Kim Bean was born and raised in North Bay, Ontario, Canada.
Bean attended a public school, where she played soccer and competed in public speaking.
She transferred to Widdifield Secondary School in grade nine. At the time of her enrollment, Widdifield was the only high school within her community to offer both dance and performance art classes.
In 2005, Bean won an Award of Merit at the Sears Festival Regional Showcase after her performance in Hart House Theatre (Toronto). That same year, Bean left to pursue a degree at Brock University (Performance Acting) at the age of seventeen.
In 2006, she spent Christmas in Germany and began studying the language. That summer she appeared in an SPC (Student Price Card) commercial.
In 2009 she left Brock University and moved to Toronto to pursue acting. During this time she studied Cosmetology at Marvel Beauty School (Yorkville). Bean sold "Mr. Sticky" Lint Rollers, promoted The Canadian Stage Co, worked as a server and created whatsbeanHappening (originally just a beauty blog) after friends insisted she document the unusual experiences she often encountered in daily life.
In June of 2015, Bean was awarded a grant to open her first business. Primp (a beauty boutique) offering hair and makeup services and specially curated products available for purchase. whatsbeanHappening.com began sharing its domain with her business, Primp after it's launch.
Bean met professional makeup artist Alessondra Bastianoni backstage, at a fashion show in October 2015. She had previously met Bastianoni's mother (former model and fashion designer) Rhondi Palangio while working for a store that retailed Palangio's jewelry. Bean asked to volunteer behind the scenes (supplying her own tools and products) in exchange for the experience. She was given the opportunity and began working in Film and Television a month later.
Bean was promoted to the position of First Assistant (makeup) in March 2016. As of July 2016, Bean had completed work on eight different films and TV shows, in the span of seven months. Her social media accounts were then followed by 26,000 people worldwide.
