Exclusive: ITV panel show Sorry, I Didn’t Know has sealed itself in the record books by becoming the network’s longest-running show from a production company led by Black creatives.

Hosted by Bel-Air star Jimmy Akingbola and shot in front of a live audience in London, the series, which launched just after the Black Lives Matter protests, sees team captains Chizzy Akudolu and Eddie Kadi plus guests take each other on in several quiz rounds mainly centered on Black history.

Produced by TriForce Productions, Sorry, I Didn’t Know has consistently made history itself, first becoming the inaugural UK TV quiz show to be centered on Black history, before being shifted away from the Black History Month schedules and now becoming “the longest running show produced by a company led by Black creatives,” according to the producers. Producers believe it is the longest-running show from a Black-led indie across all UK networks.

Winslet won Leading Actor (Female) during last night’s London ceremony, staving off competition from I Hate Suzie Too’s Billie Piper and The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe’s Monica Dolan.

Winslet’s performance alongside daughter Mia Threapleton has attracted praise from critics in the Channel 4 anthology series about the human experience. Winslet won leading actor, female, for Channel 4’s “I am Ruth.” Winslet won for playing Ruth, who witnesses her teenage daughter Freya (Winslet’s real-life daughter Mia Threapleton) retreating into herself as she becomes consumed by the pressures of social media.

Winslet made a powerful speech, saying: “It has never been a harder time to be a parent, it has never been a more dangerous time to be a child in an online world. So let’s hope that the next Online Safety Bill implements significant and seismic change that will fundamentally help towards securing the safety of all of our children by recognizing and criminalizing harmful content.”

A live stand-up comedy series, Mo Gilligan’s Spotlight is to be released on Audible. Hosted by the triple BAFTA winning comedian himself, the series will showcase some the currently under-represented and exceptional talent in British comedy. Recorded at iconic South London venue, Up the Creek Comedy Club, the six-episode series has been specially curated by Mo himself and will feature headline names such as Eddie Kadi, Thanyia Moore and Kae Kurd.

Exclusive: BAFTA-winning comedian and presenter Mo Gilligan has signed on to host and executive produce a new stand-up comedy podcast series for Audible titled Mo Gilligan’s Spotlight.

The pod will run six episodes and feature performances from live stand-up shows that will take place throughout March at the iconic South London comedy venue, Up the Creek Comedy Club. The series will land on Audible on July 6, 2023.

Headline performers across the six episodes include British comedians Eddie Kadi, Thanyia Moore, and Kae Kurd, all of whom were handpicked by Gilligan, who also curated the show with an emphasis on showcasing “currently under-represented and exceptional talent” from the UK.

The series is co-produced by Gilligan’s production company Momo G and Lucky 17. Javan Miller serves as series producer.

The Royal Television Society (Rts) has unveiled the nominees for this year’s Rts Programme Awards.

Billie Piper (“I Hate Suzie Too”), Kate Winslet (“I Am Ruth”) and Monica Dolan are nominated in the leading actor female category, while Kane Robinson (“Top Boy”), Kit Connor (“Heartstopper”) and Chaske Spencer (“The English”) are contenders for leading actor male.

This year, the Rts has introduced two new performance categories – supporting actor male and supporting actor female. Ambika Mod (“This Is Going to Hurt”), Saffron Hocking (“Top Boy”) and Adelayo Adedayo (“The Responder”) compete in the female category with Adeel Akhtar (“Sherwood”), Stephen Walters (“Anne”) and Stephen Merchant (“Four Lives”) in the male category.

The BBC leads with 40 nominations across the 30 categories, followed by Channel 4 with 20, ITV with 11 and Sky with 9.

Apple TV+ and Disney+ were the major gainers in the U.K. subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) market, a survey from Barb, the country’s television audience measurement currency, has found. Barb’s establishment survey for the first quarter of the year reports that the number of U.K. households with access to a streaming service reached 19.57 million U.K. homes (68.5 of households), in the first quarter of the year, an increase of almost 500,000 homes since the fourth quarter of 2021. Of these, 1.57 million homes had access to Apple TV+, up 27 from 1.24 million the previous quarter and 6.53 million homes had access to Disney+, a quarterly increase of 19 from 5.49 million in Q4 2021.

Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Sky’s Now TV saw smaller quarterly gains with 17.29 million homes having access to Netflix in Q1 2022, up 3 from 16.79 million the previous quarter; 13.35 million homes having access to Amazon Prime Video, a growth of 6 from 12.57 million...

Adam Deacon, the BAFTA-winning star of British indie dramas “Kidulthood” and “Adulthood,” will take on his next directorial project with “Sumotherhood.”

Billed as an urban action comedy, the film sees Deacon reteaming with Michael Vu, with whom he collaborated on the 2011 film “Anuvahood” — his first turn in the director’s seat. Joining them for the new project is writing partner and comedy performer Jazzie Zonzolo.

“Sumotherhood” marks Deacon’s return to the industry after a number of years away. The British actor-rapper broke through in the 2006 drama “Kidulthood,” and went on to win BAFTA’s highly coveted Rising Star award in 2012, beating the likes of Eddie Redmayne and Tom Hiddleston. Early in his career, Deacon collaborated on several projects with actor-director Noel Clarke — who was recently subject to multiple sexual misconduct and bullying claims, all of which he denies — but went on to accuse Clarke of bullying and sabotaging his...

Tinchy Stryder will front an ITV hidden camera show called All About The Bants, where pranks will meet lad culture.

It will be one of four comedies arriving at ITV2 featuring black, Asian and minority ethnic talent, to increase ethnic diversity on the channel.

Another hidden camera prank show, Sniggaz, has also been commissioned and will feature up-and-coming black and Asian comics poking fun at racial stereotypes.

Comedy Basement, meanwhile, highlight the talents of a number of black British comedians, including Kojo and Eddie Kadi; while cousins Tyrone-Lee Davis and Kieran Shekoni are bringing their brand of sketch comedy to the channel in The Ty and Ky Show.

ITV's director of digital channels and acquisitions Angela Jain said: "These shows are the perfect opportunity in the run-up to the Mobos to bring some funny stuff to the telly from some people new to telly."
