Adriano Sobretodo Jr.
- Actor
- Additional Crew
Adriano Sobretodo Jr. is a Filipino-Canadian actor best known for
appearances in The Strain, Saving Hope, and Covert Affairs. Though he
showed early promise in high school, it would be nearly twenty years
later before he would embrace acting as a career.
Both Adriano and his older sister were born in Toronto, Canada. Like many Filipinos, his parents migrated to the country in the 1960's. Adriano Sr. worked for a telecommunication company; his mother, trained as a classical violinist, as a nurse in the cardiac wing at Toronto General Hospital.
Despite graduating head of class in Drama and receiving an Excellency in Acting Award at the Sears Drama Festival during his last year of high school, Adriano went off to Queen's University to complete a Life Sciences Honours Degree.
For more than ten years after his undergraduate, Adriano worked as a business consultant for the likes of 3M, Target Corporation, and General Electric, living in several cities across Canada, the US, and Australia.
In 2007 Adriano left Melbourne -- and his corporate career -- and moved back home to Toronto to pursue acting. He was accepted as one of only twelve actors in York University's MFA Acting Conservatory, the only program of its kind in Canada.
Since graduating he has worked steadily in film, television, and theatre in Toronto.
