“The Crown” is gearing up for its last hurrah at the SAG Awards, an organization that has bestowed a number of prizes onto the Netflix regal show over the years. It claimed the highly coveted TV drama ensemble prize twice (2019 and ’20), while individual winners through the years were Claire Foy (2016 and ’17), John Lithgow (2016) and Gillian Anderson (2020). Now the sixth and final season is hoping to prevail for a third time, which would tie it with “Downton Abbey” in this category at three total wins.
Season 6 faces off in the TV drama ensemble race against fellow nominees “The Gilded Age,” “The Last of Us,” “The Morning Show” and “Succession.” Elizabeth Debicki is “The Crown’s” only solo acting nominee this year, with her co-nominees in the TV drama actress category being Jennifer Aniston (“The Morning Show”), Bella Ramsey (“The Last of Us”), Keri Russell (“The Diplomat”) and Sarah Snook (“Succession”).

This year’s SAG Awards nominations for drama ensemble run the gamut in terms of total cast members nominated. You have “The Gilded Age” on one side with a jaw-dropping 34 people represented. And then you have “The Last of Us” on the other side with just two — hi, Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey! HBO’s zombie apocalypse series has now tied the Screen Actors Guild record with “Key and Peele,” which was the first TV show to nab an ensemble citation with just two stars: Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele.
The “Key and Peele” funny duo lost to “Orange Is the New Black” for comedy ensemble in 2016, which had a whopping 34 cast members nominated that year. Hmm, a two-person cast losing to a 34-person ensemble? Might SAG Awards history repeat itself? “The Last of Us” competes this year against “The Gilded Age” (34 cast members), “Succession” (18), “The Crown” (15) and “The Morning Show...

Baby Ruby is a horror movie written and directed by Bess Wohl starring Noémie Merlant and Kit Harington.
This is a suprise in her debut as a suspense and horror film director that makes one thing clear: She knows how to direct.
Excellent rhythm and tension.
Storyline
A mother experiences her worst nightmare when, after her daughter Ruby arrives, her world starts turning into a nightmare after she has visions and episodes where she loses her mind, which are all related to her baby.
Movie Review Baby Ruby (2022)
This is a movie that stands out more in the directing than in the screenplay, both of these are by the same person. An excellent movie as far as rhythm is concerned and knowing how to keep the tension up, with a balanced editing, filming, good photography and… on top of this, the director manages to get good acting from the main actress Noémie Merlant,...

All rise for the miracle that is To Kill a Mockingbird on Broadway. Aaron Sorkin has adapted Harper’s Lee’s benchmark 1960 novel of growing up in a racially segregated, hate-charged, Depression-era Alabama so that it adheres to the granular specificity of the past while speaking to the harsh realities of a turbulent present. It’s a tricky, balancing act and Sorkin — in tandem with dynamic director Bartlett Sher and a flawless acting ensemble — never loses sight of making Lee’s tale thrillingly alive on stage. Brimming with humor, generous heart and gritty provocation,...

‘To Kill A Mockingbird’ Broadway Review: Aaron Sorkin, Jeff Daniels Deliver An Atticus For Our Times
When Scout, Jem and Dill take the stage in Aaron Sorkin’s To Kill a Mockingbird, they’re not rolling a tire down the sidewalk or peering into the knothole of some old oak tree. The children — played, with no excuses offered or needed, by adults — appear in what seems to be an empty, dilapidated building, maybe an old courthouse fallen into neglect. Justice itself has become a thing of memory, its paint peeling.
What really happened that night Bob Ewell died, wonders Scout (Celia Keenan-Bolger), the most inquisitive and persistent of the three? Could a man really fall on his own knife? Something about the grim story of that harvest night doesn’t add up, no matter what Atticus or the local newspaper said, and young Miss Finch (is she still young?) wants her brother, her best friend and the audience at Broadway’s Shubert Theatre to reconsider. Everything.

Following its premiere at last year’s Fantastic Fest, where we called it “a melancholy, ’70s-set lesbian romance/Gothic horror tale featuring a blond, a brunette, and a mad aunt locked away in her Victorian house,” A.D. Calvo’s atmospheric ghost story Sweet, Sweet Lonely Girl is becoming accessible to a wider audience this week with its debut on all-horror streaming service Shudder. We’ve got an exclusive clip from the film, introducing us to innocent young Adele (Erin Wilhelmi) and her equally archetypal counterpart, the mysterious, striking Beth (Quinn Shephard):

Gothic horror films often rely on a certain heightened mood to convey a particular kind of terror, which means that the actual story can be about anything at all, including divergent generational desires. Case in point: A.D. Calvo’s new film “Sweet, Sweet Lonely Girl” follows Adele (Erin Wilhelmi) as she goes to live as a caretaker for her aging aunt Dora (Susan Kellerman). Adele quickly becomes lonely in a large, empty house as she provides food and medicine to a woman who won’t leave her room or show her face. She soon meets mysterious young woman Beth (Quinn Shephard), with whom she quickly becomes intimate friends. Soon, Beth starts testing Adele’s moral ground as she begins to abandon her caretaking responsibilities. When Adele finds out that Beth isn’t who she says she is, she’s sent spiraling down a psychologically precarious path, following in the footsteps of Dora.
