Carlos Algara graduated with a B.A. from The Technological Institute of Higher Education of Monterrey, Mexico. In March of 2011 him and fellow director, Alejandro Martinez-Beltran co-founded the production company The Visualistas, in Mexico. In August 2012, Carlos graduated with a degree on Writing for Film and Television at the Vancouver Film School. In 2017, he wrote and directed his first feature film, Veronica (2017) which was selected for competition in a variety of film festivals, including Montréal World Film Festival, Guadalajara International Film Festival, and Huelva Latin American Film Festival (this last one earned Carlos the prize for Best New Director in 2017.) The film was also nominated for 8 Mexican Cinema Journalists Awards, including Best Film and Best Director, and it won said prize in the Best Actress category, for which the film was also nominated at the Mexican Academy Awards in 2018. Carlos sold and co-wrote his first TV Series Blue Demon (2016) in 2015 and has since worked as head writer and staff writer on several TV shows produced in Mexico and Latin America, some of which include El Dragón: Return of a Warrior (2019) for Lemon Studios and Netflix, Dani Who? (2019) for Viacom International Studios and Paramount+, El Rey, Vicente Fernández (2022) for Caracol Television and Netflix, Isla Brava (2023) for Onza TV and Vix+, among many others. In 2019 he co-founded the production company 78 Films with fellow producers Olga Segura and Juan Carlos Segura G.
