Steven Finn(I)
Steven Thomas Finn is an English cricketer. He was born in Watford, Hertfordshire. His major teams have been
England, England Lions, England Under-19s, Middlesex, Middlesex 2nd XI.
He is a right-handed batsman and is better known for his bowling. He is 6ft
7in and bowls from the sky. He was educated at Parmiter's School,
Watford. He made his county debut for Middlesex as a 16-year-old in
2005, the youngest to do so since Fred Titmus in 1949, and was
earmarked as an England prospect from his early days. When he secured a
more permanent position in 2007 he delayed going to university in 2008.
He represented England at all age-group levels from Under-16 upwards
and his call-up to the senior squad in Bangladesh showed how much he
had impressed the right people. He secured a more permanent position in
2007 he delayed going to university in 2008.He enjoyed a solid 2009
season for Middlesex, taking 53 wickets at 30.64 in the Championship
and was selected for England Lions' tour to UAE. He impressed enough to
be named in England's list of 30 probables for the World Twenty20 but,
with a number of others ahead of him, it looked unlikely selection for
the senior team would come knocking until the next season. Luckily for
him Stuart Broad, Graham Onions and Ryan Sidebottom all picked up
injuries at the begging of England's tour of Bangladesh Steven Finn
then came into England's attack and started his first match against
Bangladesh A and impressed all! His Test debut was three days later and
he displayed fantastic pace and bounce from a docile surface. For Finn
he was lucky as England were looking for a full time replacement for
Steve Harmison, Steven Finn showed an extremely good performance and
marked his place with great style. With Lords being his home ground he
was able to help England take wickets with a 4 for 100 in the first
innings and carried on with his impressive performance for the second
innings as he took 5 for 87 to finish with 9 in the game and win the
man-of-the-match award and medal in only his third Test. Steven Finn
then went down to Australia and pushed his performance forward as he
saved the day with a career best 6 for 125 to help turn the outcome of
the first Test at the Gabba. With an injured Stuart Broad he helped the
jaded England back by performing really well in the second test. He had
been rested and has recently been called up for a Test against India as
a replacement for James Anderson.
