Kelly was born in Stockton, California and grew up in
Oroville, California. On a lark, during his Junior year in high school
he participated in the open audition for his school's production of
Mousetrap, by Agatha Christie. To his surprise he won a lead part, that
of Detective Seargent Trotter. Other High School productions followed,
including Pillow Talk, Guys and Dolls, and the Odd Couple.
He graduated from Butte College in 1985 with a degree in Telecommunications (Radio Television Broadcasting). Next in his sights was film school. He attended film school at San Francisco State, and settled in Cal-State Northridge in the San Fernando Valley. There he graduated with a degree in screenwriting as well as taking extension courses at UCLA.
Kelly is an accomplished writer. He has written for radio, television and film.
Kelly resides in Rio Rancho, New Mexico with his wife Suzanne and 2 children, Zachary and Jessica.
