Luisa is a Los Angeles based Filmmaker, born and raised in Cascavel - a small city in the Southwest of Brazil near the triple frontier with Paraguay and Argentina. She is drawn to stories that focus on the flaws of society and the struggles of people - especially women - that don't fit into the constraints of a patriarchal and capitalist world. She loves dramas, coming of age stories, and heartfelt, character driven comedies. To date she has directed seven dramatic short films and two comedy web series episodes.
Her next project in development is an Anthology Feature with six other women directors titled Through The Blinds. The film is a collection of intimate stories that take place over seven decades under one roof, with female protagonists ranging from a 50's housewife to a present-day career-focused millennial. Her segment bookends the Anthology and is set in 2019.
In 2023 she was selected as a mentee in the inaugural #MentorLatinaDirectors Initiative from The Alliance of Women Directors. In 2019 she was selected as a fellow in the Tomorrow Filmmakers Today program from the Hola Mexico Film Festival, sponsored by HBO and the HFPA. She holds a bachelor's degree in Cinema from the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina in Florianópolis, Brasil, an MFA in Filmmaking from The New York Film Academy and certificates in Producing and Business and Management of Entertainment from UCLA Extension.
When she is not writing or directing, she works as an Assistant Director in Film and TV, helping other fellow directors achieve their vision.
