On "Duets" (Thu., 8 p.m. Et on ABC) it's as much about successfully being able to partner vocally than it is about the voice alone. That could explain why a very talented singer wound up the first eliminated. It wasn't for lack of talent, but rather a lack of vocal chemistry with their partner.
It was a touch night for Robin Thicke, who found himself singing Beyonce's "Crazy in Love" with partner Olivia Chisolm. He chose the song to try and help her find her inner diva, and maybe some confidence as well. Instead, Thicke quickly proved why he didn't go into hip hop, while Olivia just couldn't live up to the original. PopCrush called it a "nuclear hot mess."
But Thicke and Chisolm came through the performance with enough support from the other judges to avoid elimination. Unfortunately, he didn't have as much success with an awkward partnership on...

Did the right singer get the first boot? Vote now! With just three weeks until the live episodes begin, the first amateur was eliminated on the June 7 episode of ABC's Duets. Following the night's performances, Kelly Clarkson's singer Jason Farol and Robin Thicke's singer Alexis Foster landed in the bottom two and were forced into the season's first "solo showdown" ... for their lives! Jason belted out a chilling rendition of Billy Paul's "Me and Mrs. Jones," while Alexis took a chance with Aretha Franklin's "Natural Woman."
