She grew up in London. Her father is an amateur jazz musician and a bus driver. When her parents divorced, she went to live with her grandmother and started singing when she was age 7.
I'd love to sit near Alt-J [at the Mercury Music Prize] because I've never seen any of them in real life, so I want to see what they look like. I imagine they're really gorgeous and cool-looking. It would be nice to sit near Michael Kiwanuka, too, because I know him and he makes me laugh.
