Nickolay Shchetinkin was born in Baku, Azerbaijan before the fall of the Soviet Union. Raised by his electrical engineer father Aleksandr and journalist mother Liliya. Both who'm were great at fueling a life of passion and creativity. Coming from an area of mixed cultures Nickolay shares a Russian, Georgian and Armenian ethnicity.
Having been accepted into a fine painting school, Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) he studied experimental animation. From stop motion, claymation, pixelation, traditional cel painting, to 3d animation. Each medium helping to drive story in his work. After school this made an impression at various New York City creative boutiques who were experiencing the height of the motion graphics medium in SD formatted broadcast commercials and ad campaigns. This lead to him producing work for many national spots and print ads.
Afterwards, Nickolay moved to Los Angeles to join the army of Los Angeles Visual Effects artists creating a myriad amount of visual effects shots for movies and television.
Since then, his most known and recent credits include, House (2004), Sex and the City (2008), Castle (2009), Banshee (2013), Flash (2014), Narcos (2015), Supergirl (2015), and Sense8 (2015).
