Sylvester Stallone's "Rambo" movies might not be as beloved as his "Rocky" films, but they've had just as fascinating a trajectory. What's more, they've been incredibly influential in the history of action movies, charting the general evolution of the genre across four decades. If you want to get an insight into the state of action filmmaking at a certain time, "Rambo" films are a good gauge.
"First Blood," the inaugural "Rambo" film, was noteworthy for blending what are now well-known action tropes with an attempt at exploring the very real issue of Ptsd in the context of the Vietnam War. Stallone's John J. Rambo was introduced as a former United States Army Special Forces officer who despite his preternatural combat skills was haunted by his experiences overseas. Following that, the character of Rambo underwent somewhat of a transformation throughout the '80s, becoming the epitome of the muscle-bound,...

Chris O’Shea has joined the HBO Max drama pilot “More” in a series regular role, Variety has learned exclusively.
O’Shea will star in the pilot along with previously announced lead Christian Serratos and cast members Ana Ortiz, Yvette Monreal, Georgie Flores, Ceci Fernandez, and Gore Abrams.
The show is inspired by the reporting of journalist Amy Chozick. Per the official description, “‘More’ follows the Lorenz family, a tight-knit clan of seemingly flawless Latinas led by mom/mastermind Leona (Ortiz). The Lorenzes are the Vanderbilts or the Astors of the Instagram era. They pulled their way up from debt and obscurity to reality TV stardom and forged a billion-dollar mega-conglomerate not from oil or steel but from something more elusive and modern: Influence.”
O’Shea will star as Timothy Wilde, described as a lesser British aristocrat engaged to Londyn (Serratos), making him one half of ‘Lonothy,’ social media‘s most buzzed-about and closely-watched celebrity couples.

This week’s DC’s Stargirl — its fifth-to-least episode ever! — could not go without proper mention, given the major developments and multiple fights that took place, plus one wonderfully random DC cameo.
After asking her fellow Jsa members for their blessing, Courtney (played by Bec Bassinger) went to tell Cameron (Hunter Sansone) not only that she is Stargirl (and Rick is Hourman, etc;), but also share the truth behind his father Jordan’s death.

At one time, superhero shows like DC's Stargirl were essentially guaranteed to be renewed year after year. That's all changed now that Nexstar Media Group is purchasing a controlling interest in the network. Nexstar reportedly plans to focus on traditional network shows that have a more broad appeal, and that doesn't sound like DC's Stargirl. Will the show be cancelled or renewed for season four? Stay tuned. *Status Update Below.

Superheroes face death every day. Courtney Whitmore knew that even before she became the superhero Stargirl, as she inherited the rod that gives her powers from her predecessor Starman, who died fighting the Injustice Society of America. Nonetheless, Stargirl entered the fight and inspired others to do the same, leading to the construction of a new Justice Society of America. But this December, Warner Brothers will succeed where the Shade and Eclipso failed, finally bringing an end to Stargirl.
The third season of the CW series will be its last, something that didn’t come as a surprise to creator Geoff Johns. “With all the brewing changes at the network, we were aware this was possibly the last season,” Johns admitted in a statement (via Deadline). The CW is losing another show. “Stargirl,” the channel’s teen superhero drama, will conclude with its ongoing third season, IndieWire has confirmed.
The show, which airs on Wednesdays, premiered its third season in August. The final episode will now premiere on December 7.
The news comes shortly after The CW was acquired by station group Nexstar, in a deal that has been accompanied by several cancellations and endings for many of the network’s series. In May, ahead of the official deal, the channel canceled over half of its scripted programming lineup. Nexstar officially took control in October, with plans to retool the famously unprofitable channel to focus on acquired programming and cheaper original series. The change was accompanied by CEO Mark Pedowitz stepping down from his post after more than a decade at the channel.
Last week, the channel’s “Nancy Drew” announced it would conclude with its next season,...

“Stargirl” will come to an end at The CW with Season 3, Variety has confirmed.
The DC series is currently airing its third season, with the finale set to air on Dec. 7. This is the latest CW scripted series to announce it will come to an end following Nexstar’s completion of its acquisition of The CW in October. It was most recently announced that “Nancy Drew” would end with its fourth season, with both “The Flash” and “Riverdale” also coming to an end. The CW also canceled many of its scripted originals back in May.
“Stargirl has always held a special place in my heart for many reasons,” said series creator and executive producer Geoff Johns. “With all the brewing changes at the network, we were aware this was possibly the last season, so we wrote with that in mind and have delivered what I believe to be the best season of Stargirl yet,...

What Happened This Week
Stargirl is finally back and based on the CW being sold to a new company, this might be the last season of this wonderful series. We have some changes this year as the always funny Joel McHale is now a regular cast member and mentor to Courtney and after last season’s joining of forces to stop Eclipso, a majority of Stargirl’s enemies have stuck around in Blue Valley in an attempt to reform for their past actions.
Welcome to the Neighborhood
Stargirl starts with a bang by using Neil Diamond’s Coming to America song to introduce the new status quo for the series, as Stargirl’s former enemies are now her new neighbors in Blue Valley. Cindy, when not helping the elderly carry their groceries,...

This week on DC’s Stargirl, a series of quieter moments and needed conversations set the table for Season 2’s finale — while also leaving us with a haunting hint of what Eclipso has planned.
As Yvette Monreal recently told TVLine (and as we ourselves predicted a ways back), the Jsa is going to need all hands on deck for the finale, and this Tuesday’s episode went about locking down that super-sized team.

What Happened This Week
We are at the halfway point of season two of Stargirl, but this episode felt more like a season finale than just a regular episode! Stargirl has been lacking in the action department all season, but this episode delivered an action scene that took up half the episode and truly delivered some compelling combat between our heroes and villains.
Mike’s Journey
Mike is at a crossroads with the Justice Society as his father doesn’t believe he can handle being a superhero (and he doesn’t have any super powers) but he is intelligent and with Zeke’s help, could become the inventor on the team. Pat is being a father first though and won’t let Mike work on anything dangerous, hence the reason he...

Have we seen the last of Yolanda? Was this truly Wildcat's swan song?
The teenage superhero effectively quit the Jsa, cut off contact with Courtney, and left her job in one fell swoop, but the end of Stargirl Season 2 Episode 7 didn't offer much insight beyond that.
Yolanda could just as easily pop up in the next episode -- albeit giving all her friends the cold shoulder -- as go Mia for a handful of episodes or even the rest of the season. The truth is we don't know.
Following the episode, I searched the internet for post mortem articles, hoping to see if there's was any confirmation that Yvette Monreal was leaving the series.
It turns out Monreal may have been just as in the dark as the rest of us, telling TVLine she and Brec Bassinger, who plays Courtney, "had a little moment backstage, where we kind of teared up a bit.

This week’s Supergirl leaned into uncomfortable conversations as Kelly Olsen tried to get the rest of the Superfriends to focus their attention on an underserved community in dire need of help — but found herself shouting into the void.
Tuesday’s episode, titled “Blind Spots,” centered around the Ormfell building collapse that made nearby residents, including young Joey (Aiden Stoxx), severely ill. The Arrowverse show’s titular hero meant well in her quest to find Nxyly — the Fifth Dimensional imp was a major threat to National City — but her focused efforts ignored the immediate crisis directly caused by this conflict:...

This week on DC’s Stargirl, Yolanda’s lingering anguish over Henry’s death and her murder of his father Brainwave manifested itself in a way like never before. When push came to shove, how did the young hero arrive at a certain peace with her actions?

This Stargirl article contains spoilers.
Stargirl Season 2 Episode 7
Since its premiere last year, Stargirl has introduced a group of young heroes we can root for. Stargirl (Brec Bassinger), Doctor Mid-Nite (Anjelika Washington), Hourman (Cameron Gellman), and Wildcat (Yvette Monreal) have been keeping Blue Valley safe. But it hasn’t been easy.
During the season one finale, Yolanda (Wildcat) was put in a terrible position. As they faced off against Brainwave (Christopher James Baker), he used his mind control powers to make himself look like his recently deceased son Henry Jr (Jake Austin Walker). It was a heartbreaking moment for Yolanda, who was once dating the villain’s son, and it inspired a rage in her that she couldn’t control.
In that moment she did what she needed and killed Brainwave, saving Blue Valley from his evil schemes and avenging Henry Jr. But it’s a choice that has haunted her ever since,...

What Happened This Week
It’s getting closer to Halloween, and it looks like Stargirl jumped into the theme of the season as this week’s episode is more horror than family friendly. The Justice Society fight their biggest fears, Eclipso finds a new host this week, and we actually get a tease of what this demon looks like. Spoilers, he looks like Spider-Man’s arch-nemesis, Venom.
Eclipso’s Reveal
The episode starts 10 years ago when a young Cindy awakes from her sleep due to a nightmare where her father finds her and attempts to “change” her. Luckily it was only a dream as her mother tells her that they are safe and will not be found by Cindy’s father. Way to jinx that because once Cindy’s mother leaves the room,...
