Today, Paramount+ debuted the official trailer for the second season of the critically acclaimed original comedy series Colin From Accounts. The series premieres Thursday, September 26, exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S.

“Colin From Accounts” fans, mark your calendars for September 26, 2024, as that’s when the second season of your favorite romantic comedy will debut on Paramount Plus. The Australian TV import tells the unlikely love story of Ashley (Harriet Dyer) and Gordon (Patrick Brammall), two strangers who come together after they are responsible for injuring a dog. The new season consists of eight episodes, and it begins in the aftermath of Ashley and Gordon breaking up and giving their handicapped puppy, whom they not-so-affectionately named Colin From Accounts, to a new family. After deciding to get back together, the couple then shifts their focus to trying to reacquire their precious doggo from the current owners. “We made a mistake,” they plead to the family at a dog park.

As previously reported, Paramount+ will premiere all eight episodes of Colin From Accounts Season 2 on Thursday, Sept. 26. The U.S. release date comes six weeks after the second season finale premiered in the Land Down Under.

Written by and starring real life husband and wife Harriet Dyer and Patrick Brammall, the warm-hearted Australian sitcom follows the story of Gordon and Ashley, who meet when she flashes him while she’s crossing the street, causing him to lose concentration and run over a dog.

While the second season of the quirky Aussie comedy has already aired in Australia, U.S. fans have had to wait and wonder when they would get more of their cult favorite series. But Paramount+ has finally set a Season 2 premiere date in the U.S.

The second season aired in Australia on Foxtel, but the U.S. date for the “Colin” Season 2 premiere is Thursday, September 26, and the entire run of eight episodes will be available on Paramount+ all at once. (The first season won two prizes at the Gotham Awards this past January.)

If you haven’t discovered this uniquely Australian comedic gem, you may not realize “Colin from Accounts,” the title character, refers to not a human but a dog. A quirky series of events is set in emotion when Ashley (Harriet Dyer) randomly flashes a guy, Gordon (Patrick Brammall), who’s driving.

PaleyFest NY is lining up shows for this year’s event, starting with panels devoted to the 10th anniversary of Starz’s “Outlander,” one for HBO’s “Somebody Somewhere” and another for AMC’s “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol.”

The festival will run from Oct. 16 to Oct. 22 in midtown Manhattan and feature screenings and conversations with the casts and creative teams of the season’s most-anticipated television.

Aacta has revealed those in contention for the major film, television and short-form prizes at this year’s awards, with High Ground leading the charge in the film categories and The Newsreader ahead in television.

The nominations follow those revealed for feature documentary in July, with the technical craft categories still to come.

Aacta also announced today that this year’s awards will move from The Star to the Sydney Opera House, with the ceremony to be held December 8.

There has also been a change in broadcast partners from Seven to 10, where the ceremony will air first followed by an encore on Fox Arena on Foxtel, Binge, and Aacta TV.

High Ground has earned eight nominations, including Best Film. Also nominated for the night’s major prize are Nitram, which earned seven nods, The Dry, which has six, as well as The Furnace, Penguin Bloom and Rams.

Now that Quibi ended up lasting, well, a Quibi, the Emmy Awards’ short form categories seem further destined to become more of a curiosity than a major part of the competition. Roku picked up Quibi’s scraps, but doesn’t appear interested in launching new originals in the short-form space. And elsewhere, outlets including YouTube are bulking up in unscripted, but are less keen on adding more scripted, short form or not, to an already crowded marketplace.

The Television Academy first expanded the short form categories in 2016, buoyed by the promise of original fare from Maker Studios, Fullscreen, AwesomenessTV, YouTube Red, Adult Swim and others. Maker and Fullscreen basically don’t exist anymore, and the excitement of the short form races has perhaps further cooled after the Quibi debacle.
