Donald Trump’s attorneys discovered four documents marked “classified” in his bedroom four months after the FBI raided his Mar-a-Lago estate. The new revelation is among those in a new filing by a federal judge in the case.
In the spring of 2022, the Justice Department subpoenaed Trump and directed him to return the classified documents he had taken. However, in June that year, Trump’s attorneys falsely insisted to law enforcement that there were no such materials at Mar-a-Lago. When Trump subsequently refused to comply with the subpoena, the FBI executed the search warrant in August 2022 to retrieve the classified documents.
In December 2022, Trump’s legal team swept his properties and found even more classified documents – this time in the former president’s bedroom. U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell expressed bewilderment at this. “Notably, no excuse is provided as to how the former president could miss the classified-marked documents...

Donald Trump’s attorneys recently argued in court that the former president should be shielded from all criminal prosecution — even if they order the assassination of a political opponent. While no president has yet to test that bold legal theory, Trump and his Maga allies are now baselessly attempting to accuse Joe Biden of authorizing the assassination of Trump during the FBI’s 2022 raid of Mar-a-Lago.
Documents unsealed Tuesday revealed that more classified material was found at the former president’s Palm Beach estate after the FBI’s August 2022 raid.

After months of delays, the House of Representatives passed a foreign aid package that would send funding to Ukraine and Israel — and encompassed a ban on TikTok — in a Saturday vote, despite the vocal opposition from some far-right members of Congress to the former.

Former President Donald Trump supporters in the House of Representatives are pushing a bill to rename Dulles Airport outside of Washington, D.C., after the former president.
On April 2, a group of Trump supporters launched the effort to rename this airport to express admiration for the Republican 2024 presidential candidate.
The airport is named after John Foster Dulles, the secretary of state in the 1950s and during Dwight D. Eisenhower’s presidency.
Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (R-Pennsylvania), the Republican Party’s chief deputy whip in the House, stated that he was introducing legislation to change the name of the airport since Trump was “the best president of” his “lifetime.”
“As millions of domestic and international travelers fly through the airport, there is no better symbol of freedom, prosperity and strength than hearing ‘Welcome to Trump International Airport’ as they land on American soil,” Reschenthaler stated.
“Freedom,” he wrote in an X post on April 2. “Prosperity.

Congress has been locked in a death spiral for months, but instead of trying to do anything productive, seven House Republicans are focused on a ploy to rename Washington’s most inconvenient airport after Donald Trump.
The bill was introduced Friday by Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (R-Pa.), and six cosponsors, and seeks to strip Washington Dulles International Airport of its namesake — Cold War-era Secretary of State John Foster Dulles — and rechristen it Donald J. Trump International Airport.

DeLuca’s charges were confirmed in court records made public last week after she was arrested in Irvine, California.

Trump began by complaining that Peter Baker of The New York Times wrote an article referencing his comments. “[Peter] Baker today in the New York Times said that I want to be a dictator,” the former president said Saturday night at the New York Young Republican Club’s 111th Annual Gala. “I didn’t say that. The committee’s chosen acronym — Ncswic, which has been plastered on posters promoting the hearings — offers unusual cross-branding. Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Mn) was booted off the House Foreign Affairs Committee, in a move that Democrats see as payback but Republicans say was over past controversial comments.
The House voted along party lines 218-211 to remove Omar from the committee.
Omar said that the move to oust her was an attack on Muslim Americans, citing the birther movement against Barack Obama, fueled in part by Donald Trump.
“I am a Muslim. I am an immigrant. And interestingly from Africa,” she said.
Omar’s district covers parts of the city of Minneapolis and surrounding suburbs.
She added, “I am an American. An American who was sent here by her constituents to represent them in Congress.”
Omar sparked a furor and criticism from fellow Democrats in 2019 when she tweeted, in reference to Jewish organizations advocating for support of Israel, “It’s all about the Benjamins, baby.” The Democratic leadership condemned the remarks,...

Republican lawmakers have rushed to the defense of far-right TV network Newsmax after the channel was dropped by AT&T’s DirecTV. According to the satellite television provider, the split stemmed from a carriage fee dispute that would have resulted in “significantly higher costs” and increased customer fees. The channel claims they are being wrongfully censored for their political viewpoints, and have already found allies amongst Republican lawmakers.
The party of free-market capitalism has responded to DirecTV booting Newsmax by arguing that the network should carry the Trump-loving propaganda network, financial considerations be damned.

Update: The weeklong slog to launch a new Congress continued with a 13th ballot, as Kevin McCarthy picked up a vote yet still was short a majority.
Rep. Andy Harris (R-md) shifted his vote to McCarthy, giving the Republican leader 214 votes in the latest round. That’s still three short of what he needed to win the speakership.
Meanwhile, reports are emerging of the concessions that McCarthy made to win over the holdouts, including requiring just one member to file a motion to remove the speaker. Other concessions, according to Politico, would require a vote on a balanced budget amendment and there would guarantees for giving members of the Freedom Caucus seats on committees.

For three days now, America has been addicted to a new TV show playing out before our eyes: The U.S. House of Representatives on C-span.
Kevin McCarthy, either the show’s protagonist or antagonist, depending on who you ask, is trying — and so far failing — to become Speaker of the House. And it’s all happening live, with the non-profit public affairs channel garnering more attention than it has since, well, maybe ever.
“I mean, just any brief scroll of social media shows you thousands of people talking about us that typically, probably, would not be talking about us,” C-span director of editorial operations Ben O’Connell tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I don’t recall the last time I have seen C-Span mentioned on Twitter with this frequency. I’m not sure it’s ever happened before.”
Indeed, C-span has been ubiquitous this week.

Kevin McCarthy really, really, really wants to be speaker of the House of Representatives. It’s not coming. The 118th Congress began on Tuesday, and though Republicans won control of the chamber last November, a not-insignificant portion of the party remains steadfastly opposed to giving McCarthy the gavel. McCarthy has lost three consecutive speakership ballots, with 19 Republicans opposing him on the first two, and 20 on the third.
Rep. Byron Donalds joined the 19 other defectors to vote against McCarthy on the third ballot, which means McCarthy is drifting even further away from securing the majority necessary.

“They’re trying to kill me! They hate me! They just don’t like women,” a giggling Tucker Carlson said in a high-pitched tone on Fox & Friends this morning. He was mocking a recent GQ cover interview in which Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-ny) said, among other things, “My experience here has given me a front-row seat to how deeply and unconsciously, as well as consciously, so many people in this country hate women. And they hate women of color.”
Ocasio-Cortez also touched upon a number of threats on her life, from a sexual assault to those from January 6 rioters, to those from colleagues such as GOP Rep. Paul Gosar, who was censured by the House earlier this year after he posted an anime video online that depicted him killing Ocasio-Cortez.
“Realistically,” said the New York Congresswoman to GQ, “I can’t even tell you if I’m going to be alive in September.

It was a classic case of he-said, he said.
Blake Masters, Donald Trump’s pick for Senate in Arizona, swore last week that he doesn’t know Gab CEO Andrew Torba, calling him a “nobody” that “nobody cares about.” Torba — who has endorsed Masters’ Senate run and once said he’d vote for Masters over Trump for president “in a heartbeat” — insisted Masters was “flat out” lying.

After years defending the continued militarization of law enforcement agencies across the United States, Republican lawmakers appeared to have a change of heart Monday after learning the FBI executed a search at the Florida estate of former President Donald Trump. Faced with the possibility that the “good guys” aren’t necessarily on their side, prominent members of the party that made backing the blue a central tenet of its political platform began spouting rhetoric that belied their professed allegiance to the “rule of law.”

The Jan. 6 committee plans to use its Thursday-night hearing to call out insurrection-friendly lawmakers who cowered during the Capitol attack but have since downplayed the insurrection’s severity, according to two sources familiar with the committee’s planning.
“They have plans to paint a really striking picture of how some of Trump’s greatest enablers of his coup plot were — no matter what they’re saying today — quaking in their boots and doing everything shy of crying out for their moms,” one source tells Rolling Stone. “If any of [these lawmakers] were capable of shame,...

The first hours after a mass shooting are often awash in disinformation, as Internet hacks try to piece together a portrait of the killer. Frequently, the worse the information, the faster it spreads — because the sloppy sleuthing appeals to the prejudices of those determined to blame the deadly violence on anything but guns.
On Tuesday evening, such foul disinformation — about the heinous crime that killed 19 students at the Robb Elementary school in Uvalde, Texas — was promoted by a Republican member of Congress. Rep. Paul Gosar of Arizona tweeted that the...

The Russian government announced sanctions against nearly 1,000 Americans Saturday, effectively banning them from entering the country due to their support of Ukraine during the ongoing invasion. However, among the hundreds of politicians, journalists, intelligence officers and professors, a pair of names stand out on the Kremlin’s list: Rob Reiner and Morgan Freeman.
Any chance that Reiner might film the upcoming Spinal Tap sequel in Moscow has been dashed as the filmmaker has been barred from the country for his role as “one of the creators of the Internet resource Investigate Russia.

Madison Cawthorn lost his bid for reelection on Tuesday despite former President Trump’s efforts to lift him out of a self-created maelstrom of controversy. Sandy Smith is another diehard Trump devotee mired in controversy, but unlike the 26-year-old incumbent, she was able to prevail on Tuesday, winning a crowded Republican primary to represent the state’s 1st District in Congress.
How exactly is Smith controversial? The far-right candidate has has failed to file a financial disclosure — according to a fact check by the Raleigh News & Observer — and tweeted last...

The Arizona state Senate on Monday launched an ethics investigation into Wendy Rogers after the racist, far-right state lawmaker falsely suggested the mass shooting in Buffalo last Saturday was carried out by a government agent.
“Fed boy summer has started in Buffalo,” Rogers wrote on Telegram after a white supremacist killed 10 people and wounded three at a supermarket in a Black neighborhood.
The Arizona Senate, which is controlled by Republicans, voted 24 to 3 to launch an investigation into the comment. Rogers herself and two of her GOP colleagues, Warren Petersen and Kelly Townsend,...

Donald Trump helped make Rep. Madison Cawthorn a star of the Maga movement, but now the lawmaker risks falling out of The Donald’s good graces.
Just a month after he invited Cawthorn to speak at a North Carolina rally, Trump has grown increasingly annoyed and disappointed with his Maga apprentice. The twice-impeached former president has described some of what he’s heard about Cawthorn’s latest woes — and the online sexual imagery associated with it — as “gross,” according to two sources who’ve heard Trump speak about the matter in the past couple weeks.

Michigan’s 74th House District isn’t supposed to go blue, but thanks to an upstart campaign by Democrat Carol Glanville the state’s legislature will be a little less lopsided — at least for the next few months.
Glanville held off Republican Robert “R.J.” Regan and a write-in candidate, Mike Milanowski Jr., in Tuesday’s special election to take the state House of Representatives seat, which was vacated by the GOP’s Mark Huizenga when he won a state Senate seat in 2020. It wasn’t even close. Glanville, the city commissioner for Walker,...

The House Freedom Caucus — the far-right group of conspiracy theorists with members like Reps. Jim Jordan, Paul Gosar, and Madison Cawthorn — have long been warring with the rest of the Republican Party, which they feel isn’t sufficiently dedicated to former President Trump and his vision for a Maga-fied America.
The caucus has apparently been warring with itself, too, according to a new report from Politico.
Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert reportedly almost came to blows over Greene’s appearance at a white nationalist event in February, to...

Marjorie Taylor Greene is testifying under oath on Friday about her alleged role in the events of last Jan. 6.
She isn’t too happy about it.
The court appearance follows U.S. District Court Judge Amy Totenberg’s ruling earlier this week that a case seeking to disqualify Greene from office for “engaging in insurrection or rebellion” could proceed. Greene has consistently and very publicly pushed conspiracy theories about the 2020 election, while rilling up her supporters to descend on Washington, D.C., ahead of the election’s certification last Jan.

Update (4/6/2022): Hours after the Arizona Mirror revealed Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) was listed as a featured guest for a white nationalist organization event in Tempe, Arizona scheduled for April 20 — which also happens to be Adolf Hitler’s birthday — a spokesman for the Arizona congressman told the publication that Gosar will not be in attendance. According to Gosar campaign consultant Rory McShane, the congressman is booked for a “farm tour” on the day of the event. McShane also told the Arizona Mirror that “American Populist Union never contacted Gosar, his staff or his campaign.

The House of Representatives on Wednesday voted in favor of a resolution supporting Ukraine. Four-hundred and twenty five members voted in favor of the resolution. Three voted against it.
Reps. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.), Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), and Matt Rosendale (R-Mont.) decided not to support the resolution affirming America’s belief in Ukraine’s sovereignty, and holding that the U.S. “will never recognize or support any illegitimate Russian-controlled leader or government installed through the use of force.”
The bill also called for the U.S. to “deliver additional and...

In 2001, Paul Gosar was a local dentist who passionately led a campaign to put fluoride in the drinking water in the Arizona city of Flagstaff. Faced with fierce opposition, Gosar called anti-fluoride conspiracy theories “disturbing,” suggested they could harm children, and vowed to “flood” the City Council chambers with people who supported fluoridation.
“When we go back to the basics of prevention, if the fluoride ion has been proven — scientifically proven in well-versed, peer-reviewed science — to reduce decay by strengthening teeth, why not?” Gosar asked in the March 18, 2001 edition of the Arizona Daily Sun.

Two prominent Republicans, Sen. Mitt Romney and Rep. Liz Cheney, are calling out members of their own party for speaking at America First Political Action Conference (Afpac), a white nationalist answer to the Conservative Political Action Conference (Cpac).

Hours after appearing at a white nationalist conference — because that’s apparently something a Republican member of Congress can do these days — Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene received a warm reception at the Conservative Political Action Conference across town.
In this friendly venue, Greene’s message was strikingly similar to what she had to say Friday night. “As Americans, we can no longer stay silent, we can no longer shut up,” Greene said to a round of applause Saturday at Cpac during a panel discussion about being “cancelled.” She then...

The surface-level facts of what happened on Jan. 6, 2021 are not very complicated. Trump hosted a well-attended rally in Washington, D.C. to stoke anger over Congress certifying the results of the previous November’s election. After weeks of telling his supporters that the election had been stolen, he gave a speech near the White House where he told his supporters to “fight like hell” and said he expected them to head to the Capitol. Some of them did, and some of them were already there, and together the two groups...
