Torae Carr hails from the Coney Island area of Brooklyn, New York. As a young child Torae was inspired by the likes of LL Cool J, Queen Latifah, Kid 'n Play, Ice Cube and more, he decided early on that he would pursue a career in acting and music. After appearing in various music videos and doing background extra work, Torae landed his first speaking role in 2016 cast as Sig Sauer in the VH1 film 'The Breaks'. When 'The Breaks' was picked up as a series the following year, Torae returned to production as a lyric coach for Teyana Taylor. Upon the success of those experiences Torae enrolled in Wendy Mckenzie's 'In The Wink of an Eye' acting class. The group and one-on-one sessions found Torae working alongside the likes of Naturi Naughton of the Starz hit show 'Power'. In 2017, Torae was cast in his first commercial as the athletic jock for the product 'Urinozinc', he also landed a number of voice over roles for cable channels such as BET & the YES Network for the Brooklyn Nets.
In 2019 Torae landed his first Netflix role in its 2020 release 'The App That Saved Christmas'. The production team enjoyed the experience so much they invited Torae to audition for their next film 'The Drone That Saved Christmas'. Torae appeared in 'Drone' (2023) as Robert Kewass as well as the followup 'The Microchip That Ruined Halloween' (2023) starring as Kewass once again. Torae also returned to the BET screens in their hit television show Tales (2022) as criminal mastermind Beans alongside Ja Rule.
Not only can Torae be seen on television and in movies, he can also be seen in print. He has appeared in magazines such as The New Yorker, The Source, XXL, VIBE and more talking about his television and music career as well as plans for the future. He can also be heard daily on SiriusXM's channels 'Hip-Hop Nation' & 'Rock The Bells' delivering his radio shows 'The Tor Guide' & "That Raw". With 9 albums under his belt Torae the music creator & artist advocate also proudly sits as the President of The Recording Academy's New York Chapter. He's also had his music appear on many soundtracks, films, television shows & video games. As a songwriter he's accrued numerous gold & platinum works as well as Billboard chart number 1 success.
