The oil business affects everything in the wild West Texas town of Landman, and Billy Bob Thornton is a key cog in that machine.
The second trailer for the next Taylor Sheridan series, this time about the oil business, focuses on Thornton’s Tommy Norris, a crisis manager in the oil industry, and peels back more of the relationships between the star-studded ensemble that includes Thornton, Jon Hamm, Demi Moore and Ali Larter.
“Men die, oil companies don’t,” says Tommy (Thornton) in the high-octane trailer (below), as he describes himself as “a divorced alcoholic with $500 thousand in debt” and pulls his son (Jacob Lofland) into the business.
Hamm stars in a recurring guest role as Monty Miller, a Texas oil industry titan with a long personal and professional relationship with Tommy; Moore plays Cami, the wife of another powerful oil man in Texas and friend of Norris; and Larter plays Norris’ ex-wife.

Kevin McGarry and Kayla Wallace felt the calling of their own hearts, it seems.
Around 2019, Hallmark’s When Calls The Heart underwent a bit of a casting shakeup. Lori Loughlin’s departure was necessary for multiple reasons.
That is the year when Kevin McGarry and Kayla Wallace joined the cast as Nathan Grant and Fiona Miller, respectively.
Though their on-screen roles led them in different (fictional) directions, off-camera, they found each other. Learn all about their real-life romance.

Welcome to the world of oil. Those are the ominous words that end the first trailer for “Landman,” Taylor Sheridan’s new drama series starring Billy Bob Thornton, Jon Hamm and Demi Moore. The show will premiere its first two episodes on Paramount+ Nov. 17.
“The oil and gas industry makes $3 billion a day in pure profit. And it’s only getting bigger,” Thornton’s Tommy Norris says in the opening of the trailer. He then outlines that to make that money, you need to do two things: secure the land and manage the people.
“First part’s pretty simple. It’s the second part that can get you killed,” Tommy says.
After he drops that bomb, disaster strikes. Dynamic shots of men in suits boarding private planes and Tommy in his cowboy hat are replaced by a scene of workers on an oil rig. The trailer then cuts to blast as the sound drops out.

The first trailer for Taylor Sheridan’s Landman shows a high-powered ensemble cast sparring over the oil business in West Texas.
“The world has already convinced itself that you are evil and I am evil for providing them the one thing they interact with every day!” marvels recurring guest star Jon Hamm in the footage (below).
The show’s official description: “Landman is a modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs. Based on the notable 11-part podcast Boomtown from Imperative Entertainment and Texas Monthly, the series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.” The series is co-created by Sheridan and Christian Wallace.

When Hallmark fans watch their favorite romcoms and mystery series, this is a comfort watch. However, some of the same actresses who are acting in this frothier world can certainly bring a lot of grit to roles that are not on the network. That includes a couple who are working on two different series with Yellowstone creator, Taylor Sheridan.
There are three new series that viewers may want to check out now and in the coming months.

On When Calls The Heart, Kayla Wallace portrays Suffragette Fiona Miller. While Fiona is pretty fearless, she does not seem anything like the character that Kayla portrays in Landman. This week, Erin Krakow and Kevin McGarry went on an old-fashioned charm offensive, trying to promote Wcth and the Elizabeth and Nathan romance. Although most of the interviewers understandably wanted to know how Mamie Laverock was doing, or if Lori Loughlin was returning as Abigail Stanton, they did manage to get a few words in that the season would end with a promise of an exciting romantic moment for the Mountie and the teacher.
However, this has led to an animated conversation amongst Hearties. A few frustrated viewers have now nicknamed the series “Soap Valley.” Moreover, while some applaud the promo, others have shared some sentiments that insinuate that the promo smacks of “desperation.” That is because When Calls the Heart has never done anything like this before.
