Born in Leningrad (Saint-Petersburg presently). Received degree in piano and clarinet. Then Alexander changed his field of expertise and graduated from the Baltic State Technical Univeristy.
He released his first album in 1998 as a member of a band named Aurora, which was recorded at the Melodia recording studio.
At present Alexander Maev is the General producer at a Saint-Petersburg based studio named SoulsBerrystudio.His fellow tradesmen describe Maev as a musician of Western thinking patterns: he combines and develops different areas of artistic activity, he acts as a sound producer, writes music for stage shows and movies. "Intensio" and "Jan" are his first one-act ballets, created in close collaboration with the choreographer Yury Smekalov. The execution of Intensio took place in the Mariinsky Theatre in 2013, The Jan show was represented as part of a project by the creative workshop of Vladimir Vasiliev "Andrey Platonov and the Ballet" (Voronezh Theatre of Opera and Ballet, 2013). In August, 2013, a premier of a two-act ballet "Infinita Frida" with music by Alexander Maev and choreography by Yuri Smekalov was performed at the Elisa Carrillo Concert Hall in Teskoko (Mexico). In 2013 and 2014 "Forest", a part of the Symphonic suite "Intensio" within the finale of Kremlin Gala was performed in Moscow. In March, 2014, the premiere of one-act ballet "Camera Obscura" with music by Alexander Maev took place.
Recently Alexander has mainly been working on soundtracks for full-length films («Mermaid. The Lake of the Dead», «...») and several TV-series for the leading Russian TV channels. Another significant recent creative act is a collab project named Killer Tunes Production, - a producer group that Alexander founded together with his co-author, Sergei Khovansky. It aims at the global pop scene with ideas and capacities arraged for high-flying goals. Song writing has always been a big part of Alexander's artistic life. The songs made at Killer Tunes Production are made for vocalists and bands working at the cutting edge of the actual music industry. In 2018 Alex Maev founded a new production unit together with Sergei Khovansky which they gave an ambitious name of Killer Tunes Production. It's an international multi-vocalist project focused on top-notch pop songs backed up by highly artistic video content created by masters of the movie industry. The deepest impressions and emotions contained at the early years of acquaintance with best musical acts of 1980's and 1990's combined with the firm grasp of actual sound engineering and vast production experience of Alex doubled with a very similar background of Sergei, they are expected to give a rise to several new names at the musical world scene the nearest time.
