Takashi Hara is a multi-talented Japanese artist who has made a name for himself in the fields of acting, filmmaking, and martial arts. He grew up in Toyokawa city and graduated from Meijo University before studying at the Himawari Theatre Acting School in Japan, where he honed his voice, singing, ballet, Japanese traditional dance, and martial arts skills.
Takashi is proficient in various martial arts styles, including Kendo, Taiko drumming, Wushu, Tai Chi, and Xing Yi Quan. In 2015, he won the Wushu Championship in weaponry skills.
In 2016 Takashi moved to Sydney, Australia where he has worked on numerous films. Since 2019 he has been making films with his wife, Maria Tran, who is also an actor, director, and producer. Their films Operation Kung Flu (2021) and Obsidian (2021) have won several awards, and their first action feature film Echo 8 (2024) has received 19 international film awards as of March 2023.
Apart from his filmmaking career, Takashi also works as an acting teacher and facilitator. He and Maria started the Acting for Mindfulness collective, which has produced graduates working on major TV shows. Takashi has also worked on theatre productions such as 'Action Star' and is developing his first original story show 'HARU & Haru', produced under the National Theatre of Parramatta.
