Roberto Vivo

Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, Roberto Vivo holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from the Universidad Argentina de la Empresa (UADE) and a graduate degree in Macroeconomics from the Torcuato Di Tella Institute in Argentina.
He is currently First Vice President of the Governing Council of Torcuato Di Tella University in Buenos Aires.
Vivo is also President and Controlling Shareholder of Faicsa, a leading company for road marking and traffic security in Argentina and Brazil since 1982.
In 1987, Vivo founded IMPSAT Fiber Networks, the first company to implement the use of satellite technology for data transmission in LatAm.
In August 1990, the company inaugurated its first teleport. In 1997, Vivo joined Roberto Cibrián Campoy in founding El Sitio, one of the first Spanish-language portals on the Internet. Following this, Vivo successfully closed the initial public offerings of El Sitio and IMPSAT Fiber Networks on the NASDAQ National Market in a period of less than 60 days between the two transactions (El Sitio in December 1999 and IMPSAT in January 2000).
Vivo's current company, Claxson, a leading multimedia company devoted to the production, development and distribution of high quality content and apps that entertains audiences across television and digital platforms worldwide for Spanish and Portuguese-speaking audiences. Claxson was an outgrowth of a merger between El Sitio Inc. and Iberoamérica Media Partners. Vivo has been Chairman and CEO of Claxson since September 2001.
He is also the author of two books, 'Short History of World Religions', published in 2011 and 'War: A Crime Against Humanity', published in 2015.
