Surprisingly, this is one of Mikels's better movies
17 October 2016
I have to confess that this, the third in a series of films about the zombie menace, is my first ASTRO ZOMBIES film; I've not yet seen the original 1960s movie or indeed the first straight-to-video sequel. By this time of M3 - CLONED, we're in the territory of amateur film-making here, with joke shop effects and absolutely horrible CGI effects which render the whole thing messy and laughable.

However, it says something about the recent career of cult director Ted V. Mikels that this is one of the better films of his I've seen. Sure, there's a lot of boring jawing and terrible acting to sit through, but the scenes of the machete-wielding alien zombies going around hacking innocents to death make for cheesy fun. The rawness of the awful effects work is somehow endearing too, and for the first time watching a Mikels movie, I wasn't bored. Watch out for references to THE CORPSE GRINDERS and THE DOLL SQUAD, random flashback footage to the previous films in the series, and Tura Satana cameoing.
