The boutique British porn label JoyBear Pictures is very different from other production entities, only releasing a few films (averaging just 2 releases per year over the past 15 years). This venture into the vampire genre succeeds due to the house style of sensuality, aimed as usual at Couples audiences.
Story is told entirely in voice-over, with zero dialogue, the cast only lapsing into pornspeak during the sex scenes. Anya Olsen and Tyler Nixon portray the immortal vampires in London, each having a romantic liaison with a human, converting the victims into new vampires, before hooking up, their centuries-old romance renewed, in the final reel.
It may be way too tame for mainstream porn audiences these days, but manages to cast a spell with lovely styling, including a sex scene set in a bath filled with bright red rose petals, as well as a flashback to Ancient Egypt where original vampire queen Cherry Kiss dominates her sex slave Matt Bird. Blood is shown erotically rather than as a gore/violence effect.
The overall dreamy effect reminded me of the recent work Stateside by director Kayden Kross for her Trenchcoatx label, and it might be interesting to see her working for JoyBear sometime, a marriage made in porn heaven.
Titling of the video is not very good, as "Close to the Bone" is a poor description of the romantic contents, and the shooting title displayed on a BTS clapperboard as "Fresh Meat" is even worse.
