Great show!

I think the team behind this TV show really created a well-balanced cocktail of elements that are in harmony with each other. The screenplay and the plots in a detective story style deal with very varied themes and not even as obvious as is generally the case. The direction does its duty by certainly exploiting the sublime Sicilian locations but also creating the right suspense in the scenes related to the detective track. But the element that the direction renders well and that an amazingly close-knit cast brings out in a disruptive way is a profoundly Sicilian irony, thanks to a perfect scenic rhythm and some really hilarious gimmicks. The character who serves as the deus ex machina of irony on stage is certainly Piccionello, who, however, would not render in any way if it were not for the talented protagonist (Claudio Gioè) Salvatore Lamanna and the charming Suleima (Ester Pantano). I preferred this series to the most famous one about Inspector Montalbano because irony reigns supreme here, although there are stories that are also full of pathos and moving. And the choice of irony wins out over the sometimes too gloomy atmosphere of Montalbano's stories.
