Matthias Bauer was born in Lienz/Austria. After studying history and folklore he worked for publishing companies and exhibitions. He lives and works in Austria as a novelist and screenwriter.
Together with Bastian Zach he wrote the bestselling novels "Morbus Dei: The Arrival", "Morbus Dei: Inferno" and "Morbus Dei: The Sign of Aries". "Blood of the Picts", "Blood of the Picts: Firestorm", "Tears of the Earth" and "The Realm of two Crosses", released thru Random House Germany/Heyne, were also a success.
Zach/Bauer also wrote the scripts for the horror movie "One Way Trip 3D", and the international adventure movie "Northmen - A Viking Saga" with Ed Skrein (Deadpool, Game of Thrones), Ryan Kwanten (True Blood) and Tom Hopper (Black Sails). "Northmen" was sold worldwide in over 50 countries and was bought by Starz/Anchor Bay Entertainment for the American and Canadian market. Upon its US release "Northmen" made it straight into the Top 10 (DVD / Blu-ray). Zach/Bauer were involved in the concept development of the third season of German TV hit "Charité". They wrote "Tod im Prater", the most successful episode of the German TV crime series "Der Wien Krimi - Blind ermittelt".
