- Hiram F. Jenkins: Tut tut. Did he have a family?
- Hank Rinebow: It might mean war.
- Hiram F. Jenkins: Oh, get out, get out.
- Hank Rinebow: You need to sit there and tell me you're not going to print it?
- Hiram F. Jenkins: That's exactly what I mean. The 'Record' circulates in Underwood, not Serbia. I'm writing the story of the fastest aeroplane in the world, made by three Underwood citizens - that's news!
- Peggy Ranson: How frightened I'd be Scott if I were ever in trouble or worried and I looked around and you weren't there.
- Scott Barnes: I'll always be around, bothering you.
- Peggy Ranson: You don't bother me.
- Scott Barnes: No, I guess I don't. I wish I did.
- Patrick Falconer: I've got to have a little excitement in my life and I can't get it in any aeroplane factory. Rather take 'em apart in the air than put 'em together on the ground!
- Joe Gibbs: Hey - where do you ever get the idea for a wing like that?
- Scott Barnes: Went out and took a look at a steel bridge. That's the sort of construction we need.
- Joe Gibbs: Yeah - I guess you're right but I ain't seen anybody flying around here in a bridge lately.
- Patrick Falconer: Look at that battleground up there - 10,000 feet high. It's clean and cold and mysterious and the dead never lie on it, and there's no mud.
