When Phillip is at dinner and is telling a story about a trip to Abysinnia, he is referring to the country Ethiopia, as it became known after WWII. Later in the picture, he mentions the country Siam, which later became known as Thailand.
Erin O'Brien-Moore's debut, playing the character of Florence Stebbins, the domineering mother of Alice, and ex-wife of Philip.
The Hollywood Reporter production charts include Barbara Kent in the cast, but she was not seen in the movie.
