Clara Calamai said, "The business of the naked breasts was not in the script. Blasetti put it in, but he had to work hard to convince me. I was forced to give in. At that time actors had no protection; there were no unions to look after their interests. He decided that my breasts had to be seen so my breasts were seen. To overcome my resistance he made a promise: 'Clara,' he said, ' I'll clear everyone off the set: there will just be me, the cameraman and Nazzari.' So we shot the scene, I don't remember if we did one or two takes. The next day I found out that a whole load of people had been watching, perched on the barriers behind the lights. I was blinded by the lights and couldn't see anything."
