One of over 700 Paramount Productions, filmed between 1929 and 1949, which were sold to MCA/Universal in 1958 for television distribution, and have been owned and controlled by Universal ever since; its earliest documented telecast took place in Boston Sunday 14 December 1958 on WBZ (Channel 4), followed by New York City Friday 27 February 1959 on WCBS (Channel 2). In Milwaukee it was first telecast 6 April 1959 on WITI (Channel 6), in Phoenix 1 June 1959 on KVAR (Channel 12), in Seattle 5 August 1959 on KIRO (Channel 7), in Chicago 11 October 1959 on WBBM (Channel 2), in Denver 7 November 1959 on KBTV (Channel 9), in Omaha 8 January 1960 on KETV (Channel 7), in Johnstown a April 1960 on WJAC (Channel 6), in San Francisco 18 September 1960 on KPIX (Channel 5), in Los Angeles 15 October 1960 on KNXT (Channel 2), in Philadelphia 5 March 1961 on WCAU (Channel 10), and in St. Louis 28 May 1961 on KMOX (Channel 4). It was released on DVD 3 March 2016 as part of the Universal Vault Series and also enjoys an occasional cable TV airing on Turner Classic Movies.
Ironically two of this film's stars, Alan Ladd and Marie McDonald are interred just feet from one another in the same alcove called the Sanctuary of Heritage of the Freedom Mausoleum at Forest Park Memorial Gardens in Glendale, California.
Helen Walker's debut and she got the lead.
"The Screen Guild Theater" broadcast a 30 minute radio adaptation of the movie on January 31, 1944 with Alan Ladd reprising his film role.
"Screen Director's Playhouse" broadcast a 60 minute radio adaptation of the movie on February 8, 1951 with Alan Ladd and Sheldon Leonard reprising their film roles.
