Palsbo started out with a compassionate social story of morally banned young single mothers (Diskret Ophold) and continued the year after with a more thoroughly dramatic angle on unaccepted children in 'Take what you want' where a young man in a family is not eligible to partake in the heritage from the deceased patron since he was not the young man's biological father. The title of the film is an utterance of the young man Kurt played by Ebbe Rode to which his uncle replies "...but be prepared to pay the price!" The film is a concise and unscrupulous presentation of the lust for money and sex, a harsh bit of reality to be presented to the moviegoers back then. Even though it grossed a substantial amount as those of his colleagues Astrid and Bjarne Henning-Jensen the production company, Nordisk Film, fired them and chose less uncompromising directors to produce their films in the future. In the end of this particular movie Ib Schønberg and Ellen Gottchalch has a strong suicide scene. Ole Palsbo also ended up taking his own life five years later.
