American Airlines is hoping for a show of good will from its pilots this Christmas.

After a technical malfunction in a crew booking system allowed too many pilots to schedule vacation time the week of December 17 -31, it was reported yesterday that American had 15,000 flights scheduled without pilots to fly them — potentially wreaking havoc on its passengers’ holiday travel plans and causing chaos at airports.

On Wednesday, American released a statement reassuring customers that it was “working diligently to address the issue” and that it expects to avoid cancellations.

Uber is pushing to become the world’s next airline — without buying any planes.

Instead, the company believes that a fleet of flying cars could solve the dilemma of daily commutes to work and between meetings in increasingly congested cities.

And with the announcement on Wednesday that Uber has secured a contract with Nasa to develop software to make “flying taxis” possible, that push seems one step closer to reality.

WWE superstar Sheamus was on a United Airlines plane flying from Denver to Los Angeles when it diverted and made an emergency landing due to a medical issue.

Sheamus posted a picture of himself with an oxygen mask noting that there weren’t “many brave lads” when the masks dropped, which would suggest that people were freaking out.

Thankfully, they were able to land the plane in Grand Junction, Colorado before Sheamus boarded another plane for Los Angeles.

147 JetBlue passengers had quite a fright on Thursday when JetBlue flight 1416 from Long Beach to Austin suffered an engine malfunction, forcing an emergency landing.

Jackson Rathbone, who starred as Jasper in the Twilight Saga, was on the flight with his wife and young son and took to Twitter and WhoSay during the evacuation to describe the emergency landing and evacuation. A JetBlue spokesperson confirmed that, about 15 minutes into the flight, the engine overheated, causing an emergency landing and subsequent evacuation.

“We were on JetBlue flight 1416 to Austin from Long Beach. Our right engine exploded and our cabin filled with smoke. The oxygen masks did not deploy, but the brave stewardesses came around and manually deployed them. It was rough, the plane was rocking,“ Rathbone wrote on WhoSay.

The couple documented the frightening flight incident on their Instagram accounts.
