In the series debut Joe finds a jewel-filled purse in his cab. He refuses to accept a reward which upsets Mabel as the money would bring them closer to getting married.

Mabel wants to set up her cousin on a blind date with Joe's best friend Mike, only the two men are very wary about it and use ingenuity to escape the "trap."

After a big robbery, Joe is convinced the gunman got in his cab, and is scared he'll return to silence him. He seems to keep seeing him everywhere and is a nervous wreck. Mable convinces him to go down to the Police station and try to find his picture in the mug shots.

Mabel wins a contest and her prize is a free trip, however she is unable to find Joe top share the vacation.

Joe finds an old painting in an antique shop and believes it is a masterpiece that will make him wealthy.

Joe thinks he is in love with a woman who rides in his cab who makes quite an impression on him, unaware she is a a psychiatrist.

Joe gets a chance to go to Hollywood when he meets a film company shooting scenes and is offered a part playing a cab driver.

Complaining about Mabel's habitual lateness Joe promises her be mink stole if she can be on time for an entire week.

Mabel secretly decides to take voice lessons as a surprise for Joe.

Mabel becomes jealous of a girl singer on television that captures Joe's rapt attention, so she decides to secretly take up singing lessons with a run-down instructor with the unlikely name of Caruso. Joe misunderstands the new man in her life and a blow-up ensues.

Joe becomes suspicious when Mabel encourages him to spend more time with the boys and believes she is trying to get rid of him.

After a tiff with Mable about one of Mable's old boyfriends, Joe finds she's going to receive some unclaimed money at a lawyer's office. All believe that the legacy is from the old sweetheart, though it's actually from some old stocks her mother bought.

Joe decides to break his engagement to Mabel as he fears he can't provide her the luxuries she deserves.
