Maybe the film's current low rating is based on the Danzigers' reputation rather than watching the actual film.
For I found this is to be a well constructed Brian Clemens script, too formulaic you could admit, but breaking up the scenes in the courtroom with flashbacks showing how Edgar Mills (Jack Watling) planned to strangle his very rich wife.
The casting of Denis Shaw as the defence counsel gave him a chance not to be a baddie for once, and though none of the cast is given much opportunity to shine, Totti Truman Taylor as a theatrical costumier does inject a bit of humour into her testimony.
One twist I had not anticipated, it is well prepared and worthy of Clemens at his best. However the ending is an utter a swindle: surely the great writer would later in his career have devised something more appropriate.? OK, the plot would have been better fitted into a 25 minute Mark Saber story, but it's worth an hour of your time.
