Despite being cancelled after one series due to so-so ratings. The series was still sold to Australia, Hong Kong, France, The Netherlands and the UK. In the UK it was shown on Thursday nights by some ITV broadcasters around the 11pm slot in 1969 but has not seen shown since - presumably because all the broadcast prints were returned to Paramount where they were eventually destroyed (see above).
As of December 2020 the film negatives for this series no longer exist. They were last recorded as being in the Paramount film and television archives in the mid 1970s but it is thought they were either deliberately or accidentally destroyed in a purge to free up storage space for more recent shows in the late 1970s. The only remnants left of the show (like those on YouTube) are from a couple of very worn telecine prints that were discovered in the vault of a local television station in the early 2000s.
Robert Loggia was actually relatively proficient in Karate and Ju Jitsu in real life (with belts to prove it) but still asked the legendary Bruce Lee for advice in choreographing his moves for the camera. Lee was only too happy to oblige.
At the time that the series was broadcast, the lead character's full name was given as Thomas Hewitt Edward Cat.
Cat is the part owner of a night club called Casa del Gato along with his partner, Pepe Cardoza.
