This film was the inspiration for Midnight Cowboy (1969), according to it's director John Schlesinger.
In 1996, members of the Yugoslavian Board of the Academy of Film Art and Science (AFUN) voted this film the fifth best Serbian movie in 1947-1995 period.
As of 2016 it was included in the #100 Serbian movies list (1911-1999) and protected as cultural heritage of great importance.
