Interest in the white-coater genre (porn films made in the infancy of X to XXX) waxes and wanes, but worth a re-look (and reappraisal) is THE MIRACLE OF LOVE, one of two German imports that filled U.S. Adult theaters at the end of the '60s.
Its companion film made by the same team, IDEAL MARRIAGE is available from the same distributor Something Weird Video, but is lousy by comparison.
After an exceedingly dull opening reel establishing its educational bona fides, film hits its stride with well-acted and written vignettes showing the sex education content in dramatic form. A truly beautiful actress playing Pauline, not afraid of extended nude scenes, Her trials and tribulations (the subject is frigidity) with husband Tommy on their first wedding anniversary are arousing and sensitively portrayed, overcoming the drawbacks of dubbed English-dialog.
Almost as good is an extended segment about unfulfilled Claudia, whose husband Martin does not satisfy her in bed after seven years of marriage. Her fantasies of sex and trysts with various guys is the stuff porn is made of, but director F.J. Gottlieb handles the material tastefully.
