'Mike Myers' made his acting debut at the age of twelve with a guest appearance on the show. Years later, he would name the heroine of Austin Powers:International Man of Mystery "Vanessa Kensington" in honor of the show which gave him his start. He also continued to keep in touch with star Al Waxman, always calling him "Mister Waxman".
There was a huge attempt by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation to sell this show to a major American television network. When they got one American network executive to sit down and watch an episode, for the first few minutes the American network executive started laughing and said that he was enjoying the episode he was watching. Then the episode made a Canadian reference, which caused the American network executive to immediately say, "No thanks."
A bronze statue of Al Waxman now stands in the real-life Kensington Market, at Bellevue Square Park.
The original pilot (filmed December 12th, 1974) starred actors Paul Hecht and Sandra O'Neill as Larry and Cathy King, before being replaced by Waxman and Reid. O'Neill later made a guest appearance in the episode "The Total Woman" (Season 5). Jayne Eastwood, who would go on to join the show in the final season as Gwen Twining, was also part of this cast, but it is not clear who her character was. Also attached were Paul Kligman, Alfie Scopp, Kay Hawtrey, Ted Follows, and Yvon Leroux.
