The movie contains strong scenes of violence and bloody violence, including violence where a child character witnesses some of the acts. There is an underlying sexually violent tone to some of the violence against the women in the film, though, this never results in actual rape.
Violence in the movie includes sight of various people being attacked and eaten by an alligator; a man having a scythe put through his neck while he continues to stand and struggle with the bloody wound & scythe; a sense of sexual threat as a man struggles with a woman's top before throwing her down steps; a woman being slapped violently and beaten before being tied up; a man being shot in the lower leg (not graphic); and a woman being hacked up bloody with a pitchfork.
