The score for The Children was done first and Harry Manfredini used parts of it for Friday the 13th.

But because Friday the 13th was a huge hit and The Children is, more or less, a more obscure film it's been accused of ripping off Friday the 13th when that's not the case.

That's dust from when the film was originally made.

Some of the claimed films that The Children supposedly references or is referenced in are Village of the Damned, Night of the Living Dead (1968), Sinister (2012), Children of the Corm (1984), Goosebumps: Welcome to Dead House (1997), The Bad Seed (1956) and Bloody Birthday (1981). Most of these claims are just rumors, although many of these films share similar plot lines and thematical elements.
