According to sources Bette Davis wasn't exactly thrilled about working for such a young "inexperienced" director. But after the first day she realized she was wrong and this young man definitely knew what he was doing. That young man was Ron Howard, fresh off his seven season stint on Happy Days.
First project Ron Howard worked on as director after leaving Happy Days in the spring of 1980. He had directed previously while acting but at this point he wanted to focus on directing.
Highland Park High School was used for some/all of the school scenes. The east entrance had a newly installed wheel chair ramp that was used in at least one scene.
