The short film that introduced Mickey Mouse to the world, 1928’s Steamboat Willie entered the public domain this year, and the tale gets the horror movie treatment with the upcoming Screamboat. Terrifier star David Howard Thornton (“Art the Clown”) is playing the film’s twisted version of Steamboat Willie, and more casting news has been revealed.

Variety reports this week that Tyler Posey (“Teen Wolf”) and Kailey Hyman (Damien Leone’s Terrifier 2) have joined David Howard Thornton in the upcoming Screamboat.

Brian Quinn (“Impractical Jokers”) and Joe DeRosa will also appear in cameo roles.

The seventh and final installment of the late George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead franchise is currently in the works, and we've just learned of some new cast additions to this upcoming zombie film.

The movie is titled Twilight of the Dead, and talented actresses Milla Jovovich and Betty Gabriel have been revealed to have joined the cast. Jovovich is best known for starring in the leading role of Alice in the action-horror film franchise Resident Evil. Her most recent role was playing Tess in the sci-fi thriller Breathe. Some of her next projects other than Twilight of the Dead are the upcoming movies In the Lost Lands, Midnight and World Breaker.

Gabriel, on the other hand, is known for portraying Georgina in the smash-hit psychological horror film Get Out. She also starred in many other horror films, such as The Purge: Election Year, Unfriended: Dark Web and It Lives Inside.

Milla Jovovich will star in the concluding chapter of George A. Romero’s popular “Dead” zombie film series. Titled “Twilight of the Dead,” the movie represents the end of Romero’s legendary franchise that began in 1968 with “Night of the Living Dead.” Brad Anderson will direct the film, which is based on a story treatment written by Romero before his death in 2017.

Production on “Twilight of the Dead” is scheduled to start in March 2025. Jovovich, known for her role leading the “Resident Evil” movies, will play the main character. She joins cast member Betty Gabriel, who appeared in Jordan Peele’s “Get Out.” The story takes place on a remote island and follows the few remaining humans fighting off hordes of the undead.

The George A. Romero estate is teaming up with L.A.-based financier-producer Roundtable on the “seventh and final installment” of the seminal Living Dead franchise. Horror icon Romero had written a treatment for the movie before he died in 2017 and he regarded Twilight of the Dead as the conclusion to his epic saga, which comprised six movies and various spinoffs and remakes.

Fortitude International will present the project at next week’s American Film Market, with production being lined up for March.

Set on a tropical island, we’re told Twilight of the Dead will “delve into the dark nature of humanity from the perspective of the last humans on Earth who are caught between factions of the undead.

Milla Jovovich is preparing to do battle with zombies again and will star with Betty Gabriel in Twilight Of The Dead, which Brad Anderson will direct and Roundtable Entertainment is producing in collaboration with the Romero estate. Fortitude International is kicking off sales at AFM.

Back in 1983, legendary producer Roger Corman brought the world a sword and sorcery film with an awesome title: Deathstalker. It was so successful, it paved the way for three sequels: Deathstalker II: Duel of the Titans (1987), Deathstalker and the Warriors from Hell (1988), and Deathstalker IV: Match of the Titans (1991). The franchise went dormant for more than thirty years, but earlier this year we learned that it’s being revived by filmmaker Steven Kostanski – whose previous credits include Manborg, Father’s Day, The Void, Leprechaun Returns, Psycho Goreman, Frankie Freako, and episodes of the short-lived Day of the Dead TV series. Kostanski is writing and directing a Deathstalker remake that has Daniel Bernhardt (John Wick) playing the title character… and now that the project is in post-production, the filmmakers recently revealed that the theme song composed for the remake is a collaboration between legendary musician Slash, composer Bear McCreary, and Deathstalker II composer Chuck Cirino!

Greg Nicotero has been involved in The Walking Dead franchise from day one. He's been a key figure in the show's success, from working as a make-up artist to becoming an executive producer and even directing several episodes. In the spinoff show Daryl Dixon, he's been able to tackle a wholly different environment in France, with all-new walkers.

Daryl Dixon season 1 introduced us to a couple of new walkers. There're the ones that are enhanced by humans using a dark mix of experimental chemicals, making them faster and significantly more aggressive. From the team behind the Terrifier movies, Stream was released in theaters back in August and we’ve learned this week that the gory horror movie is now headed home.

Stream comes to Fandango at Home, iTunes and Apple TV starting October 15.

“We are excited to give our loyal fans the ultimate experience! After they see Terrifier 3 in theaters they now have the chance to fill that gore bug and get more from our team and Damien Leone in seeing Stream from the comfort of their own home before going to see Terrifier 3 again of course,” director Michael Leavy said in a statement this week.

After having its world premiere at the 2023 Sitges Film Festival, the new zombie horror-comedy flick All You Need Is Blood has been acquired by Level 33 Entertainment. The distribution company has set the movie's streaming release for October 2024.

According to Variety, the zombie movie will be released on the Kino Studio app on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024. Rhiannon Fish and Christopher Russell will be heating up your TV screens this weekend in the new Hallmark Channel original movie A Costa Rican Wedding.

The actors are putting their hot bodies on display for the film’s beach scenes and we have photos from the new film to share!

Here’s the movie’s synopsis: “A clumsy maid of honor gets help from her handsome nemesis when things go awry at her best friend’s Costa Rican wedding.”

Both Rhiannon and Christopher are regulars on Hallmark Channel and they have plenty of other credits to their names. Rhiannon is also known for her work on the series The 100 and the Australian soap opera Neighbours. Christopher is best known for the shows Day of the Dead and Reacher.

A Costa Rican Wedding debuts on Hallmark Channel on Saturday (August 17) at 8/7c.

Online physical media retailer Waxwork Records is releasing the original soundtrack to “Monkey Man.”

Composed by Jed Kurzel, the music from Dev Patel’s directorial debut will be available Aug. 16 in a double-lp set featuring red, black and metallic gold a-side and b-side colored vinyl. Gatefold packaging features new artwork from illustrator Sajan Rai, and includes liner notes written by both Patel and Kurzel.

Kurzel’s previous credits include “Alien: Covenant,” “Overlord,” “Assasin’s Creed,” “The Pope’s Exorcist,” “The Babadook’ and his brother Justin’s 2021 film “Nitram,” the latter of which scored Caleb Landry Jones a best actor award at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival.

In 1982, horror legends Stephen King and George A. Romero joined forces to bring audiences the ultimate experience in being scared. Iconic Events Releasing will bring Stream to theaters nationwide on August 21, 2024, and the upcoming horror movie’s bloody trailer has been debuted by Variety today.

Based on the novel Mary: The Summoning by Hillary Monahan, Bloody Mary: Origins was scripted by Reddick and John Stancari – who, sadly, passed away in 2018 after a long battle with cancer. This is Stancari’s first produced film and will be dedicated to his memory. The story follows a group of teenage girls who discover an ancient spell that conjures the real Bloody Mary. When the terrifying entity pulls one of the girls through the mirror, she becomes trapped in the past, living out the real Mary Worth’s last days.

Art the Clown is coming to ruin your Disney memories... well, sort of.

According to a new exclusive from Variety, Terrifier star David Howard Thornton, who plays the larger-than-life yet absolutely terrifying killer clown, will next star in Screamboat, a horror comedy in which Disney's earliest iteration of Mickey Mouse becomes the stuff of nightmares.

On January 1, 2024, the classic 1928 animated short film Steamboat Willie entered the public domain. Not long after that, multiple projects were announced featuring the 1928 version of Mickey becoming the latest childhood character to morph into a horror villain.

Screamboat follows "a late-night ferry ride that turns deadly when a mischievous mouse begins a rampage, targeting unsuspecting passengers."

Steven Lamorte, who produced Terrifier 2, will direct the film. Lamorte previously dabbled in this kind of parody material with The Mean One, which also starred Thornton. The Mean One is a Christmas horror film loosely based on the iconic Dr. Seuss story,...

On January 1st, the earliest versions of Mickey Mouse – seen in the animated shorts Plane Crazy, The Gallopin’ Gaucho, and most famously Steamboat Willie – became public domain… which, of course, means we’re now going to get multiple horror movies that feature characters inspired by Mickey Mouse. Within the first three days of the year, we saw the short film The Vanishing of S.S. Willie, a trailer for the slasher movie Mickey’s Mouse Trap, and an announcement that Terrifier 2 producers Steven Della Salla and Michael Leavy and director Steven Lamorte, who previously made the Grinch-inspired horror movie The Mean One, were teaming up for a Steamboat Willie-inspired horror flick that we now know is titled Screamboat. David Howard Thornton plays Art the Clown in the Terrifier films and brought the horror version of the Grinch to life in The Mean One, so it’s no surprise that...

From the production teams behind Terrifier 2 and The Mean One, Screamboat is coming to theaters in 2025 via Iconic Events Releasing, and Variety reports this morning that Terrifier, Terrifier 2 and Terrifier 3 star David Howard Thornton (“Art the Clown”) will be playing the film’s twisted version of Steamboat Willie!

“I’m beyond excited to join this incredible cast and bring Steamboat Willie to life with a horror twist,” Thornton said in a statement shared by Variety this morning. “Screamboat is going to be a horrific and hilarious big screen thrill ride that fans won’t want to miss.”

The actor behind Art the Clown is taking terror to the high seas in his latest project.

David Howard Thornton, who portrays the bloodthirsty jokester in the “Terrifier” series, is set to play Steamboat Willie in the horror comedy “Screamboat.” Steamboat Willie is the earliest version of Disney’s iconic Mickey Mouse character, and it entered the public domain on Jan. 1, opening the door for projects like this one.

Per the film’s official description, “‘Screamboat’ follows a group of New Yorkers on a late-night ferry ride that turns deadly when a mischievous mouse begins a rampage, targeting unsuspecting passengers. The unlikely crew must band together to thwart the murderous menace before their relaxing commute turns into a nightmare.”

Joining Thornton in the cast include Allison Pittel (“Stream”), Amy Schumacher (“The Mean One”), Jesse Posey (“Teen Wolf”), Jesse Kove (“Cobra Kai”), Rumi C Jean-Louis (“Hightown”) as well as horror veterans...

Legendary special effects artist Tom Savini provided the blood and gore for such horror classics as Martin, Dawn of the Dead, Maniac, Friday the 13th, The Burning, The Prowler, Creepshow, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, Day of the Dead, and more – and he’s also an actor, having delivered memorable roles in Knightriders and From Dusk Till Dawn, among others. Now our friends at Bloody Disgusting have confirmed that Savini will be making an appearance in writer/director Damien Leone’s supernatural slasher sequel Terrifier 3, which will be receiving a North American theatrical release on October 11th!

Details on the role Savini will be playing were not revealed.

Leone had a budget of around $55,000 to work with on his breakout horror film Terrifier, and a budget of “a little over” $250,000 for Terrifier 2, which was a massive hit when it was released last year, earning $15.1 million at the box office.
