Initially, the role of the terrorist was going to be played by Moretti himself, as some kind of Giulio's "evil twin", with the exception of having a beard in the case of the terrorist. Then, the role went to Vincenzo Salemme.
The only film directed by Nanni Moretti between 1976 and 1989 in which he doesn't play his alter ego Michele Apicella.
